An Ultra-wideband Metamaterial Absorber with Angular Stability

open access: yesApplied Computational Electromagnetics Society Journal (ACES)
In this paper, an ultra-wideband (UWB) microwave absorber with robust angular stability is proposed. Each unit of the structure consists of three-layer stacked resistive films to effectively broaden the absorption bandwidth. A metallic via is inserted in the center of the structure, which effectively guides the TM polarization oblique incident wave ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

EVALUATION OF ANGULAR INTRAARCH PARAMETERS ON LONGTERM STABILITY

open access: yes, 2021
AIM: There are still a lot of uncertainties related to long term stability after orthodontic treatment. Mostly, linear measurements were investigated and predictors have not been identified. Aim of this research was to investigate how angular intraarch parameters influence long term stability.

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Displaced mid-shaft clavicular fractures: Surgical treatment with a pre-contoured angular stability plate

open access: yes, 2012
The treatment for displaced mid-shaft clavicle fracture is highly controversial. In the last years, several biomechanical studies showed better functional results after surgical treatment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of pre-contoured

Surgical treatment of intra-articular distal radius fractures, with polyaxial angular stability plate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Introduction. Distal radius fractures are about 2 times more common than fractures in other areas of the human body. The annual incidence is 24 cases per 10,000 people per year.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
