Enhancing patient engagement in cancer research: a focus on patient‐centric approaches to scientific discovery

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient engagement involves actively including patients in healthcare decisions and research to ensure care and studies align with their needs. This approach improves outcomes, trust, and communication while fostering collaboration between patients and professionals.

Paul Alsberg (1883-1965) et le transfert adaptatif du biologique au technique : un précurseur de la "cultural niche construction" ? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
We propose, in this paper, both a presentation and a discussion of Paul Alsberg's thesis on the supposed specificity principle of human evolution. The author maintains a difference of nature between Man and Animal relying on an opposition between "body-adaptation" - that of the Animal - and "extrabodily-adaptation" - that of Man in which the means of ...

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

What does a convolutional neural network recognize in the moon? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Many people see a human face or animals in the pattern of the maria on the moon. Although the pattern corresponds to the actual variation in composition of the lunar surface, the culture and environment of each society influence the recognition of these objects (i.e., symbols) as specific entities.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′
