National identification and recording systems for contagious animal disease control
Livestock Production Science, 1995Abstract A conceptual framework was described for national identification and recording (I&R) systems, especially referring to the role in the control of highly contagious diseases in pigs. Subsequently, four different concepts of I&R systems were described: a current system meeting EU minimum standards, a revised system that will be introduced in ...

Electronic live animal and carcass identification systems
Proceedings of the British Society of Animal Production (1972), 1990Unique and secure identification of livestock from birth through to the carcass in the abattoir will become a key feature in many areas of livestock production: disease eradication; quality assurance schemes; pedigree breeding; and producer feedback from abattoirs.

Animal Identification and Traceability Under the US National Animal Identification System
Journal of Food Law & Policy, 2006The identification of animals has a long history in the United States. Since the late nineteenth century, livestock producers have used brands to mark their animals. Ear tags and other marks now identify individual animals or animals from a specific producer, but not all livestock are identified to facilitate traceability.

An animal tracking system for behavior analysis using radio frequency identification
Lab Animal, 2014Evaluating the behavior of mice and rats has substantially contributed to the progress of research in many scientific fields. Researchers commonly observe recorded video of animal behavior and manually record their observations for later analysis, but this approach has several limitations.
