The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

EFFECT OF SEMINAL PH VALUE AT INSEMINATION ON SEX RATIO OF BOVINE EMBRYOS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Animal and Poultry Production, 2011
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of changes in seminal pH value at insemination on sex ratio of bovine embryos and confirm embryo sexing using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

OVARIAN-GENITAL CHARACTERISTICS AND EMBRYO RECOVERY RATE OF SUPEROVULATED NEW ZEALAND WHITE RABBIT DOES [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Animal and Poultry Production, 2007
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of slaughter time (after 24 or 72 hours from matting) on ovarian and genital characteristics of superovulated female rabbits and quality and recovery rate of embryos.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Detection of Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamases, Metallo-β-Lactamases, Antimicrobial Resistance Profiles, and Biofilm-Forming Capacity in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Strains Recovered From Dogs With Otitis Externa in Italy

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is considered the second major causative agent of otitis externa in dogs, after Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial resistance profiles and to detect the extended-spectrum β-lactamase ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Effect of feed Supplemented with Xylam Enzyme on Performance, Carcass Characteristics and Meat Quality of Broiler Chicks

open access: yesJournal of Applied Veterinary Sciences, 2016
This experiment was carried out to identify the impact of inclusion different levels of commercial xylam enzyme (zero, 0.5kg, 0.75kg, and 1 kg) in the feed on performance, carcass characteristics and meat quality of broiler chicks.300 unsexed one- day ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
