Effects of high air temperatures on milk efficiency in dairy cows

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2006
26 herds with 71 586 individual records were used. We tested a hypothesis that milk efficiency was influenced by the elevation of the farm, housing system, breed, area of altitude, and by the cooling of dairy cows. There were 20 herds from lowlands and 6

INTERACTION EFFECTS BETWEEN DIETARY VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENTATION AND ENDOGENOUS ANTIOXIDANT ENZYMES OF DIFFERENT RABBIT GENETIC RESOURCES ON SOME GROWTH PERFORMANCE, VITAMIN E CONTENTS AND OXIDATIVE STABILITY DURING SUMMER SEASON [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Productivity and Development, 2013
The current study was initiated to explore the effect of the relationship between dietary vitamin E at levels; 40 (control), 80, or 120 mg/kg diet, and male and female of two rabbit breeds (exotic; V-line vs.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Effect of maize DDGS addition on carcass and meat quality of lambs of native sheep breed

open access: yesJournal of Applied Animal Research, 2018
The aim of the study was to characterize carcass and meat quality of lambs of native sheep breed, which were fed a diet containing maize dried distiller’s grains with solubles (DDGS).

Performance and behaviour at milking after relocation and housing change of dairy cows

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2013
The hypothesis that relocation of cows with a housing change temporarily decreases their milk production and affects cows' behaviour in the milking parlour has been proved.

Growth performance of goats fed diets containing varying levels of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes)

open access: yesAgricultura Tropica et Subtropica, 2021
Owing to the scarcity of feed during the dry season in most tropical regions of Africa, attention has been shifted to the use of aquatic plants which were regarded as waste and take a lot of effort to eradicate.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Effect of feeding rabbits on fungal treated corn stalks on carcass characteristics and meat composition

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2019
Background Corn stalk as low quality roughage is high in lignocellulytic materials and low in readily available carbohydrates and nitrogen as well as several minerals.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
