Abstract Background Extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially exosomes, are nanoparticles increasingly recognized as key regulators of intercellular communication in both physiological and pathological aspects. Despite rapid progress, inconsistencies in nomenclature, isolation, and characterization continue to restrict translational advancement.

Reduced risk of Plasmodium vivax malaria in Papua New Guinean children with Southeast Asian ovalocytosis in two cohorts and a case-control study [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The erythrocyte polymorphism, Southeast Asian ovalocytosis (SAO) (which results from a 27-base pair deletion in the erythrocyte band 3 gene, SLC4A1Delta27) protects against cerebral malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum; however, it is ...

N8‐Modified Quino[4,3,2‐Kl]acridines as Promising Antimalarial G‐Quadruplex Ligands
A series of extended aromatic compounds with tunable substituents was synthesized using a multistep methodology which allows various substitutions of the 8H‐quino[4,3,2‐kl]acridine scaffold. This chemical series appeared as a promising way to new antimalarial drug candidates with high activity (IC50 < 100 nM), exhibiting a novel mechanism of action ...

Cholesterol‐enriched plasma membranes in hepatocellular carcinoma impede drug penetration. Cholesterol (+)‐liposomes act as membrane‐specific detergents, extracting cholesterol and reducing barrier function without cytotoxicity. Following endocytosis, cholesterol transfers from endosomes to liposomes and is metabolized in the ER.

The C-terminal portion of the cleaved HT motif is necessary and sufficient to mediate export of proteins from the malaria parasite into its host cell [PDF]
The malaria parasite exports proteins across its plasma membrane and a surrounding parasitophorous vacuole membrane, into its host erythrocyte. Most exported proteins contain a Host Targeting motif (HT motif) that targets them for export. In the parasite

Antioxidant Chemistry of Phenolics in Chinese Herbal Medicines: A Holism‐Based Review
Phenolic antioxidants in CHMs mainly include chalcone, stilbene, flavonoid, xanthone, and Diels–Alder‐type adducts. They undergo direct and indirect pathways to exert antioxidant action. The indirect pathway is transition metal‐chelating, while the direct pathway comprises several redox‐based reactions (e.g., SET and HAT) and RAF reactions.

ABSTRACT In this study, 12 novel sulfonamide derivatives incorporating 2‐amino‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole and 1,3‐benzazol‐2(3H)‐one scaffolds were synthesized and structurally characterized using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and LC–MS analyses. Their inhibitory activities were evaluated against acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), carbonic anhydrase I
