Linking Polyelectrolyte Modification and Enzyme‐Catalyzed Phenolic Acid Functionalization of Cellulose Fiber for Functional Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Cellulose fibers functionalized using cationic poly(Dimethyldiallylammonium chloride) (polyDADMAC) and laccase‐mediated ferulic acid system are processed into foams using different surfactants (Anionic, cationic, and non‐ionic). Fiber–surfactant interactions influence foam stabilization and porous structure formation during convective drying, producing

Molecular recognition for anion detection: Progress and environmental significance

open access: yesIntelligent Pharmacy
Supramolecular chemistry is the name given to the subfields of chemistry that deal with complex frameworks made up of a certain number of molecules. The host and visitor or guest involved in molecular recognition demonstrate molecular complementarity ...

Chitin‐Chitosan Cryogels for the Reversible Sequestration and Recovery of Heavy Metals From Wastewater

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Chitin‐chitosan cryogels with degrees of N‐acetylation from 12.2% to 71.4% are fabricated by dissolution, coagulation and lyophilization for the sequestration of heavy metals from water. Colorimetry and differential pulse voltammetry showed controlled adsorption and desorption capacities for As5+, Co2+ and Cu2+, making this material attractive for ...

Region‐Specific Profiling of the Gut Microbiome and Metabolite Landscape in Response to Dietary Intervention Using Electronics‐Free Ingestible Smart Sampling Capsules

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Region‐specific profiling of the gut microbiome is achieved non‐invasively using electronics‐free ingestible sampling capsules that activate at defined intestinal sites through stimuli‐responsive coatings. Deployed in a porcine dietary intervention model, the capsules resolve spatially distinct, fiber‐driven shifts in microbial composition and short ...

Amidopyrroles: from anion receptors to membrane transport agents

open access: yes, 2005
Amidopyrroles have been employed in a variety of anion receptors and sensors. 2,5-Bisamidopyrroles show selective oxo-anion complexation properties in organic solution whilst bis-amides containing dipyrrolylmethane groups form strong complexes with ...

Cyclodextrin‐Functionalized Light‐Driven Cu2O Micromotors for Simultaneous Capture and Degradation of Bisphenol A

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Fuel‐free Cu2O‐based micromotors functionalized with β‐cyclodextrin actively remove bisphenol A from water under visible light. The cyclodextrin shell captures BPA and enhances micromotor motility, leading to faster degradation and higher overall removal than nonfunctionalized Cu2O and Cu2O@Au.

Investigation of the Anion Binding Properties of Tripodal and Arylethynyl-Based Receptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Anion sensing is important due to the roles anions play in biological systems and the environment. Given the complexity of these environments, selectivity in receptors is crucial. Research in the labs of Profs.
