Boron based anion receptors as sensors
Chemical Society Reviews, 2010This critical review will explore some of the recent research into the use of boron based anion receptors and focus on those receptors that have been designed to transduce the binding event into a measurable output signal. In particular the review will concentrate on optical chemosensors, where the signal produced is in the form of a colour or ...

Anion-induced contraction of helical receptors
Chemical Communications, 2009Uptake of a tetrafluoroborate anion into the centre of a dicopper bis-salicylaldoxime complex causes a major contraction of the cavity and an increase in helicity.

Anion Recognition by a Silanediol-Based Receptor
Organic Letters, 2006To explore the anion recognition ability of silanol hydroxy groups, a silanediol-based receptor 1 was prepared. Spectroscopic studies and X-ray crystallography revealed that the receptor exhibits the characteristic recognition of anions via two hydrogen bonds in chloroform.

Biaryl-based anion receptors bearing thiourea groups: fluoride anion receptor
Journal of Inclusion Phenomena and Macrocyclic Chemistry, 2013The synthesis, characterization and binding studies with anions for biaryl-based anion receptors bearing thiourea groups have been described. The results revealed that receptors (1 and 2) showed good selectivity and binding affinity for F−, and among them binaphthyl-based receptor (1a) showed the best binding affinity for F− in comparison to other ...

Pyridyl thioureas as switchable anion receptors
Chemical Communications, 2006The binding selectivity of simple pyridyl thioureas in acetonitrile can be completely switched by protonation; hence the neutral thiourea binds acetate, but not chloride or bromide, whereas the protonated thiourea binds strongly to chloride or bromide, but is deprotonated by acetate.

A benzimidazole‐based chromogenic anion receptor
Journal of Molecular Recognition, 2006AbstractA benzimidazole‐based anion receptor 1 has been designed and synthesized. The structure of 1 is confirmed through single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. Anion‐binding studies carried out using 1H NMR and UV–visible revealed that this compound exhibits selective recognition toward F− over other halide anions.

Molten salts bearing anion receptor
Chemical Communications, 2004A series of organoboron molten salts prepared by hydroboration of allyl imidazolium type molten salts with various hydroborating reagents such as monobromoborane dimethyl sulfide complex, 9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (9-BBN) and mesitylborane, and subsequent anion exchange reaction exhibited selective cation transporting property with ionic conductivity ...

Acridinone-based anion receptors and sensors
Chem. Commun., 2007The interaction of a variety of acridinone derivatives containing hydrogen-bond donor groups in the 4- and 5-positions with anions demonstrate the potential of this new scaffold in anion receptor and sensor design.
