Chaotropic and Kosmotropic Anions Regulate the Outcome of Enzyme-Mediated Dynamic Combinatorial Libraries of Cyclodextrins in Two Different Ways

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2021
We demonstrate how different anions from across the Hofmeister series can influence the behavior of enzyme-mediated dynamic combinatorial libraries of cyclodextrins (CDs).

Anions and the anaesthetist [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 2002
Anions are the negative components of most chemical structures and play many important physiological and pharmacological roles that are of interest to the anaesthetist. Their relevance is reviewed with a particular emphasis on the inorganic anions (halides, bicarbonate, phosphate and sulphate) and the significance and limitations of the anion gap ...

pH-Stable Zn(II) Coordination Polymer as a Multiresponsive Turn-On and Turn-Off Fluorescent Sensor for Aqueous Medium Detection of Al(III) and Cr(VI) Oxo-Anions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Nowadays, coordination polymers (CPs) are promising candidates as sensory materials for their high sensitivity, improved selectivity, fast responsive nature, as well as good recyclability.

Development of Cationic Benzimidazole-Containing UiO-66 through Step-by-Step Linker Modification to Enhance the Initial Sorption Rate and Sorption Capacities for Heavy Metal Oxo-Anions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Effective and rapid capture of heavy metal oxo-anions from wastewater is a fascinating research topic, but it remains a great challenge. Herein, benzimidazole and −CH3 groups were integrated into UiO-66 in succession via a step-by-step linker ...

1,4-Dihydropyridine Anions as Potent Single-Electron Photoreductants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Organic anions offer a promising route for promoting difficult single-electron reductions, owing to their strongly reducing excit-ed states that can be accessed under visible light irradiation.

Tetrapodal Anion Transporters [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Synthetic anion transporters that facilitate chloride transport are promising candidates for channelopathy treatments. However, most anion transporters exhibit an undesired side effect of facilitating proton transport via interacting with fatty acids present in the membrane. To address the limitation, we here report the use of a new tetrapodal scaffold

Crystallographic and Theoretical Evidences of Anion⋅⋅⋅Anion Interaction

open access: yesChemPhysChem, 2021
AbstractPlanar (HgCl3)− anions are stacked fairly closely together in a slipped parallel arrangement within several crystal structures. Quantum chemical analysis shows evidence of strong noncovalent spodium bonds between the Hg π‐hole of one unit and the Cl atom of an adjacent unit. Anion⋅⋅⋅anion spodium bonds work in tandem with crystal packing forces.

Decarboxylation of organic anions to alleviate acidification of red soils from urea application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Purpose Decarboxylation of organic anions in crop straw is recognized as one of the mechanisms for increasing pH in acidified soils. However, the effectiveness of specific compounds in alleviating soil acidification from nitrification has not been well ...
