Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Use of hydrotalcites for the removal of toxic anions from aqueous solutions [PDF]
The removal of toxic anions has been achieved using hydrotalcite via two methods: (1) coprecipitation and (2) thermal activation. Hydrotalcite formed via the coprecipitation method, using solutions containing arsenate and vanadate up to pH 10, are able ...

Anion‐Exclusion and Anion‐Exchange Chromatography of Nucleotides [PDF]
Anion‐exclusion chromatography, previously shown to resolve nucleosides, has been applied to separate nucleotides on “cation‐exchange” columns at acid pH values. The study of pH and ionic effects indicates that these separations occur by anion repulsion, not by cation exchange.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Separation and Analysis of Anions Based on Anion Carriers
Two approaches are proposed for use of anion carriers. The first approach is development of an adsorbent specific to nitrite based on cobalt(III) complexes of 6-octadecyl-1, 4, 8, 11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-5, 7-dione impregnated in Amberlite XAD-7. The second one is spectrophotometric determination of fluoride followed by selective extraction with ...
