ANISOMETROPIA AND ANISEIKONIA

Optometry and Vision Science, 1972
ABSTRACT When axial anisometropia is corrected by spectacles, retinal image sizes are approximately equal; if contact lenses were to be used, the myopic eye would have the larger retinal image.

Anisometropia and Binocularity

Ophthalmology, 1996
To determine the effects of experimentally induced anisometropia on binocular function in healthy adults as a means of assessing the potentially detrimental effects of uncorrected anisometropia on binocular development in childhood.Nineteen adults with normal binocularity, ranging in age from 26 to 59 years, were studied.

Anisometropia and Changes in Anisometropia in School Myopia

Optometry and Vision Science, 1990
Human anisometropia and changes in it were followed over a 3‐year period in 238 schoolchildren who had uncomplicated school myopia in both eyes. Anisometropia of the spherical equivalent (ASFE) type increased in 27%, decreased in 6%, and remained unchanged in 67% of these children.

PREDICTING ANISEIKONIA IN ANISOMETROPIA∗

American journal of optometry and physiological optic, 1975
ABSTRSCT In estimating the amount of aniseikonia that may be present in any given case of anisometropia, it is usual to apply the “rule of thumb” approach. The “rule” states that for each diopter of anisometropia, the amount of aniseikonia to be expected is 1½ to 2 percent.

Effects of Anisometropia on Binocularity

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 2001
ABSTRACT Purpose: To investigate the effects of anisometropia on binocular function and the relationship between stereopsis and fusion in anisometropia. Methods: Twenty-five patients with anisometropia were studied. The manifest refraction and bestcorrected Snellen visual acuity of each patient was recorded. Patients, corrected with

THE INFLUENCE OF ANISOMETROPIA ON STEREOSENSITIVITY

Optometry and Vision Science, 1969
ABSTRACT Stereoacuity is a sensitive measure of visual performance. This study indicates that relatively small amounts of artificial anisometropia can greatly reduce stereosensitivity. This finding is discussed in relation to the use of binocular refraction techniques.

Anisometropia

2019
Anisometropia is a condition that occurs when your eyes have varying refractive powers, which can cause your eyes to focus unevenly. This condition typically occurs when one eye is a different size or shape than the other and results in asymmetrical curvatures, asymmetric farsightedness, or asymmetric nearsightedness.

MARKED ANISOMETROPIA

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1939
A white man aged 48, who apparently was in good health, registered in the Section on Ophthalmology of the Mayo Clinic on Sept. 16, 1936, for refraction. The glasses he had worn for the preceding four years had been broken recently, but the lenses, while they had enabled him to carry on his duties as a railroad station agent in a small community, never ...
