Transport properties and current flow patterns in homogeneous strongly anisotropic materials

open access: yes, 2010
A finite element model has been used to study potential distribution and current flow paths in highly anisotropic composite materials. Unexpected results are obtained, which are found consistent with minimising of Joule heat release in the ...

An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.

Study of Anisotropic Plastic Behavior in High Pressure Torsion of Aluminum Single Crystal by Crystal Plasticity Finite Element Method

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
In this study, a crystal plasticity finite element method (CPFEM) model has been developed to investigate the anisotropic plastic behavior of (001) aluminum single crystal during high-pressure torsion (HPT). The distributions of equivalent plastic strain

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Anisotropic-Asymmetric Hardening Characterization of BCC/FCC/HCP Metals: Experiments and Modeling

open access: yes
This research investigates the anisotropic-asymmetric hardening behaviors of different types of metals by experiments and analytical modeling. Experiments are conducted at shear, uniaxial tension, plane strain tension and equibiaxial tension states to ...

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Anisotropic Borehole Stress Program

open access: yes, 2019
Software developed to calculate the stress concentrations in the vicinity of a borehole drilled at an arbitrary direction through an elastically anisotropic rock formation. The code developed is based on the Lekhnitskij-Amadei solution.

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Flow Feature Aligned Mesh Generation and Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Methods which allow for construction of flow feature aligned meshes in two- and three-dimensions have been developed in this thesis to investigate their potential for improvements in the numerical solution relative to globally refining the mesh.

Anisotropic proximal gradient

open access: yesMathematical Programming
This paper studies a novel algorithm for nonconvex composite minimization which can be interpreted in terms of dual space nonlinear preconditioning for the classical proximal gradient method. The proposed scheme can be applied to additive composite minimization problems whose smooth part exhibits an anisotropic descent inequality relative to a ...
