Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Phenomenological aspects of an anisotropic quark-gluon plasma

open access: yes, 2010
In this work we investigate phenomenological aspects of an anisotropic quark-gluon plasma. In the first part of this thesis, we formulate phenomenologicalmodels that take into account the momentumspace anisotropy of the system developed during the ...

Microwave Irradiation-Assisted Synthesis of Anisotropic Crown Ether-Grafted Bamboo Pulp Aerogel as a Chelating Agent for Selective Adsorption of Heavy Metals (Mn+)

open access: yesGels
Crown ether is widely used in water purification because of its ring structure and good selective adsorption of specific heavy metals. However, its high cost and difficulty in recycling limit the purification of heavy metals in water.

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Seismically anisotropic magma reservoirs underlying silicic calderas

open access: yes, 2018
Seismic anisotropy can illuminate structural fabrics or layering with length scales too fine to be resolved as distinct features in most seismic tomography.

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

VLF emission triggering by a highly anisotropic electron plasma

open access: yes, 2002
A recent paper by Bell et al (Bell et al,2000) reports observations from the POLAR spacecraft of highly anisotropic hot electron distribution functions in the equatorial region of the magnetosphere at L=3.4.
