Controlled anisotropic wetting behaviour of multi-scale slippery surface structure of non fluoro polymer composite

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2013
A facile process for in-situ modification of surface properties of Waste Expanded Polystyrene (WEP)/graphite film produced by spin coating technique has been described.

Direct measurements of the effects of salt and surfactant on interaction forces between colloidal particles at water-oil interfaces

open access: yes, 2007
The forces between colloidal particles at a decane-water interface, in the presence of low concentrations of a monovalent salt (NaCl) and of the surfactant sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) in the aqueous subphase, have been studied using laser tweezers.

Controlled anisotropic wetting of scalloped silicon nanogroove

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2016
The anisotropic wetting characteristics of SNGs were investigated in dynamic and static regimes. The anisotropic wettability of the SNGs was successfully employed to control fluid flows in microfluidic channels.

Exciton‐Polaritons in Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks: A Platform for the Reversible Modulation of Strong Light‐Matter Coupling via the Chemical Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Strong exciton‐photon coupling is achieved by integrating porphyrin ligand‐based MOF nanoparticles in optical cavities, as evidenced by pronounced polariton branch anticrossing. The porous nature of the resonator enables precise, reversible tuning via vapor pressure, unlocking unprecedented chemical‐environment controlled dynamic polaritonic platforms ...

Experimental investigation of evolving anisotropy in unsaturated soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper investigates the ‘initial’ and ‘evolving’ mechanical anisotropy of a compacted unsaturated soil. Awide campaign of triaxial compression and extension tests, involving different stress and suction paths, has been performed on both ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Anisotropic Wetting Property of Superhydrophobic Surfaces and Electrokinetic Flow on Liquid-Filled Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Understanding the wetting property of rough surface is critical in guiding droplets and novel superhydrophobic surface design. The Cassie-Baxter model and Wenzel model are always used to describe the totally non-wetting and completely wetting states ...

Contact Angle Hysteresis on Superhydrophobic Stripes

open access: yes, 2014
We study experimentally and discuss quantitatively the contact angle hysteresis on striped superhydrophobic surfaces as a function of a solid fraction, $\phi_S$.

The coagulation of myosin in muscle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1937
The coagulation of myosin is one of the few changes in the proteins of muscle known to take place during contraction and rigor. Although under certain conditions as much as one-third of the total protein of muscle may become insoluble, the significance ...

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...
