Anisotropy in antiferromagnets [PDF]
Due to the advent of antiferromagnetic (AF) spintronics, there is a burgeoning interest in AF materials for a wide range of potential and actual applications. Generally, AFs are characterized via the ordering at the Néel temperature (TN), but to have a stable AF configuration, it is necessary that the material has a sufficient level of anisotropy so as

Is there anisotropy in structural bias? [PDF]
Structural Bias (SB) is an important type of algorithmic deficiency within iterative optimisation heuristics. However, methods for detecting structural bias have not yet fully matured, and recent studies have uncovered many interesting questions. One of these is the question of how structural bias can be related to anisotropy. Intuitively, an algorithm

Holographic spontaneous anisotropy [PDF]
Abstract We construct a family of holographic duals to anisotropic states in a strongly coupled gauge theory. On the field theory side the anisotropy is generated by giving a vacuum expectation value to a dimension three operator. We obtain our gravity duals by considering the geometry corresponding to the intersection of D3- and ...

Anisotropy and NMR spectroscopy [PDF]
Abstract In this paper, different aspects concerning anisotropy in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy have been reviewed. In particular, the relevant theory has been presented, showing how anisotropy stems from the dependence of internal nuclear spin interactions on the molecular orientation with respect to the external magnetic field ...

The first direct measurement of an anisotropic superconducting property in MgB2 was achieved for the bulk nucleation field Hc2, in a sample of aligned crystallites. It was found a ratio g(T) = Habc2/ Hcc2= 1.6 - 1.9, for T varying from 32 K to 26K, between H applied parallel to the ab plane, and along the c direction.

Field Dependence of the Superconducting Basal Plane Anisotropy of TmNi2B2C [PDF]
The superconductor TmNi2B2C possesses a significant four-fold basal plane anisotropy, leading to a square Vortex Lattice (VL) at intermediate fields. However, unlike other members of the borocarbide superconductors, the anisotropy in TmNi2B2C appears to ...

Relating pore fabric geometry to acoustic and permeability anisotropy in Crab Orchard Sandstone: A laboratory study using magnetic ferrofluid [PDF]
Pore fabric anisotropy is a common feature of many sedimentary rocks. In this paper we report results from a comparative study on the anisotropy of a porous sandstone (Crab Orchard) using anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS), acoustic wave ...

Thermal Oxidation Preparation of Doped Hematite Thin Films for Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting
Sn- or Ge-doped hematite thin films were fabricated by annealing alloyed films for the purpose of photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. The alloyed films were deposited on FTO glass by magnetron sputtering and their compositions were controlled by ...
