On the origin of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in strained Fe-Co(-X) films [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. D: Appl. Phys. 50 045003 (2007), 2016
Very high magnetic anisotropies have been theoretically predicted for strained Fe-Co(-X) and indeed several experiments on epitaxial thin films seemed to confirm strain induced anisotropy enhancement. This study presents a critical analysis of the different contributions to perpendicular anisotropy: volume, interface and surface anisotropies.

Effects of hot rolling process on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of Sn-containing ferritic stainless steel

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2023
Cr-Ni resource-saving Sn-containing ferritic stainless steel (FSS) was taken as the research object. The microstructure evolution and properties change of the experimental steel under different hot rolling processes were explored by means of optical ...

Magnetic Anisotropy at Nanoscale [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanotechnology, 2011
Nanoscale objects often behave differently than their “normal-sized” counterparts. Sometimes it is enough to be small in just one direction to exhibit unusual features. One example of such a phenomenon is a very specific in-plane magnetic anisotropy observed sometimes in very thin layers of various materials.

Continuous Cooling Transformation Diagram, Microstructures, and Properties of the Simulated Coarse-Grain Heat-Affected Zone in a Low-Carbon Bainite E550 Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2019
In order to provide important guidance for controlling and obtaining the optimal microstructures and mechanical properties of a welded joint, the continuous cooling transformation diagram of a new low-carbon Nb-microalloyed bainite E550 steel in a ...

Modeling Molecular Magnets with Large Exchange and On-Site Anisotropies [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 98, 214409 (2018), 2018
Spins in molecular magnets can experience both anisotropic exchange interactions and on-site magnetic anisotropy. In this paper we study the effect of exchange anisotropy on the molecular magnetic anisotropy both with and without on-site anisotropy. When both the anisotropies are small, we find that the axial anisotropy parameter $D_M$ in the effective

Contrast-to-noise ratio analysis of microscopic diffusion anisotropy indices in q-space trajectory imaging [PDF]

open access: yesZ Med Phys 30(1):4-16, 2020, 2020
Diffusion anisotropy in diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is commonly quantified with normalized diffusion anisotropy indices (DAIs). Most often, the fractional anisotropy (FA) is used, but several alternative DAIs have been introduced in attempts to maximize the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) in diffusion anisotropy maps.

A Theoretical Approach for Computing Magnetic Anisotropy in Single Molecule Magnets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a theoretical approach to calculate the molecular magnetic anisotropy parameters, $D_M$ and $E_M$ for single molecule magnets in any eigenstate of the exchange Hamiltonian, treating the anisotropy Hamiltonian as a perturbation. Neglecting inter-site dipolar interactions, we calculate molecular magnetic anisotropy in a given total spin state ...

The anisotropy of granular materials [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 71, 051304 (2005), 2004
The effect of the anisotropy on the elastoplastic response of two dimensional packed samples of polygons is investigated here, using molecular dynamics simulation. We show a correlation between fabric coefficients, characterizing the anisotropy of the granular skeleton, and the anisotropy of the elastic response. We also study the anisotropy induced by

Self-adapted clustering of solute atoms into a confined two-dimensional prismatic platelet with an ellipse-like quasi-unit cell

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2018
This paper reports a new structured prismatic platelet, self-assembled by an ellipse-like quasi-unit cell, precipitated in Mg–In–Yb and Mg–In–Ca ternary alloys and aged isothermally at 200°C using aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark-field ...

Mesoscopic bound on anisotropy in itinerant ferromagnets [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 95, 017202 (2005), 2004
We calculate the anisotropy energy of a single-domain ferromagnetic particle in which the only source of anisotropy is the presence of non-magnetic impurities. We find that such anisotropy takes the form of combined easy-axis and easy-plane anisotropies, with random orientations of the axes.
