Targeting ligament boundaries rather than alignment boundaries in augmented‐reality‐assisted total knee arthroplasty ensures comparable gait patterns between operated and contralateral limbs

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Modern personalised total knee arthroplasty (TKA) techniques aim to mimic natural knee kinematics by focusing on soft‐tissue dynamics rather than static alignment. However, a consistent definition of the optimal ligamentous balance has not yet been established.

MRI of Neurogenic Human Motor Units Following Poliomyelitis

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Surviving motor units in neurogenic diseases demonstrate collateral reinnervation. Scanning electromyography (EMG) reveals normal motor unit corridor length, but with “silent regions,” suggesting that reinnervation does not result in increased motor unit size but may increase motor unit complexity.

Stance and Gait Analysis of Apollo Astronauts on the Moon

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aim As humans return to the Moon, safe efficient ambulation and fall prevention on the lunar surface are key concerns. The analysis of gait from archived Apollo mission video footage is now possible with pose estimation video analysis software.

Cross‐lagged assessment between indices of leisure time physical activity and domains of quality of life after electrical stimulation training in persons with spinal cord injury: An exploratory trial

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background An existing association was noted between leisure time physical activity (LTPA) and quality of life (QOL) after spinal cord injury (SCI). Furthermore, electrical stimulation exercise program has been shown to improve domains of QOL.

Association of arthritis and total joint arthroplasty with self‐reported function in former professional American‐style football players

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Participation in American‐style football (ASF) results in trauma‐related concerns including joint injuries. Limited work has described arthritis and knee and hip total joint arthroplasty (TJA) in this population. The association of these conditions to pain interference and physical and mental function has not been well described ...

Analysis of balance in adults with chronic axial spinal pain receiving medial branch block or radiofrequency ablation procedures

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Medial branch blocks (MBB) and radiofrequency ablations (RFA) are common diagnostic, prognostic, and interventional procedures performed for the management of cervical and lumbar spine facetogenic pain. Although these procedures have established utility as pain management strategies, it is unclear if the disruption in function of ...
