Effect of Annealing on Crystal Orientation and Electrochemical Performance of Nanocrystalline LiFePO4

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
Nano single-crystalline LiFePO4 (LFP) with large (010) plane exposure was synthesized by the hydrothermal method, followed by annealing to alleviate the main limitations of LiFePO4 cathode material.

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

The Stability of Metallic MoS2 Nanosheets and Their Property Change by Annealing

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
Highly pure 1T MoS2 nanosheets were grown at 200 °C by a hydrothermal process. The effects of mild annealing on the structural and physical properties of the MoS2 were studied by heating the nanosheets in air and vacuum up to 350 °C.

Application of Quantum Annealing to Nurse Scheduling Problem

open access: yes, 2019
Quantum annealing is a promising heuristic method to solve combinatorial optimization problems, and efforts to quantify performance on real-world problems provide insights into how this approach may be best used in practice.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Evolution of superconductivity by oxygen annealing in FeTe0.8S0.2

open access: yes, 2010
Oxygen annealing dramatically improved the superconducting properties of solid-state-reacted FeTe0.8S0.2, which showed only a broad onset of superconducting transition just after the synthesis.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Influence of the Annealing Temperature on the Properties of {ZnO/CdO}30 Superlattices Deposited on c-Plane Al2O3 Substrate by MBE

open access: yesCrystals
{CdO/ZnO}m superlattices (SLs) have been grown on c-plane sapphire substrates by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PA-MBE). The observation of satellite peaks in the XRD studies of the as-grown and annealed samples confirms the presence of a ...
