Transformation of the δ-Ferrite in SS2343 Austenitic Stainless Steel upon Annealing at 1050 °C, 1150 °C and 1250 °C

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The solidification behaviors of laboratory cast austenitic SS2343 stainless steel in terms of the volume fraction of δ-ferrite in the as-cast state and its transformation after subsequent annealing were investigated.

The annealing of 1 MeV implantations of boron in silicon [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Buried layers of boron in silicon have been made by 1 MeV implantations up to a dose of 1013 cm−2. The annealing of the implantation damage has been studied with Van der Pauw and Hall measurements. It is concluded that lattice damage reduces the mobility

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Multistep severe plastic deformation to achieve non-rare earth bulk magnets with high α-MnBi phase content

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters
The ferromagnetic α-MnBi phase as non-rare earth magnetic material has gained increasing interest, but the fabrication of large volumes containing a significant amount of α-MnBi is still challenging.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...
