Antibacterial activities of seven ethnomedicinal plants from family Annonaceae

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology & Research, 2022
Serious threat to human health caused by bacterial infection persists as a global concern. It becomes more serious when the burden of multidrug-resistance bacteria is in the increasing trend.

Patterns of Tree Species Abundance and Diversity on Urban Sidewalks in Macapá, Amapá, Brazil

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 2, March 2026.
This study presents the first systematic inventory of street trees in Macapá, Northeastern Brazilian Amazon. Results reveal a dominance of exotic and fruit‐bearing species, low tree density, and a replacement of large canopy trees by smaller ones, indicating potential losses in ecosystem services and the need for more biodiversity‐focused afforestation

Centesimal Composition, Bioactive Compounds, and Antimicrobial Properties of White (Hylocereus undulatus) and Red (Hylocereus polyrhizus) Pitayas

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the centesimal composition, physicochemical properties, bioactive compounds, antimicrobial activity, and anti‐quorum sensing (QS) potential of red pulp (RP; Hylocereus polyrhizus) and white pulp (WP; Hylocereus undulatus) pitayas.

Alkaloids isolated from the leaves of atemoya (Annona cherimola×Annona squamosa)

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Farmacognosia, 2015
AbstractAtemoya is an interspecific annonaceous hybrid between Annona cherimola Mill. and Annona squamosa L. Its phytochemical investigation led to seven alkaloids, including two aporphine (anonaine and asimilobine), three oxoaporphine (lanuginosine, liriodenine and lysicamine) and two proaporphine (pronuciferine and stepharine).

First report on the termiticidal activity of extracts of Annona squamosa (Annonaceae) seeds and on its active constituent squamocins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Termites inflict severe damage on wood and impede usage of several forest species. The biological metabolites could potentially replace synthetic termiticidal products which are becoming more restricted to use.

Tree Species Composition and Forest Stratification along the Gradients in the Dry Deciduous Forests of Godavari Valley, Telangana, India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
It is important to understand the tree species composition, abundance, species diversity and stratification in tropical dry deciduous forests that are under threat. A quadrat study was attempted in the dry deciduous forests along the ecological

Habitat use and diel activity of insectivorous bats across land‐cover types on an Afrotropical oceanic island

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Using acoustic surveys, we investigated habitat use and diel activity patterns of insectivorous bats across the main land‐use types of the endemic‐rich Príncipe Island, in Central West Africa. We sampled bat activity at 48 sites spanning old‐growth forests, secondary regrowth forests, shaded cocoa plantations, and horticultural areas.

Repellent Effects of Annona Crude Seed Extract on the Asian Subterranean Termite Coptotermes gestroi Wasmann (Isoptera:Rhinotermitidae)

open access: yesSociobiology, 2014
Crude seed extract of three tropical fruits belonging to the family Annonaceae, viz., sweetsop (Annona squamosa L.), soursop (A. muricata L.) and biriba (Rollinia mucosa Baill.) were investigated for their repellent effects on the Asian subterranean ...

GNPS Untargeted GC‐MS Metabolomic Analysis of Essential Oils From Duguetia lanceolata and Evaluation of Antimicrobial Activity

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 2, February 2026.
Untargeted metabolomic analysis of the essential oil of D. lanceolata leaves collected in winter revealed that they are mostly composed of sesquiterpenes, while those collected in autumn showed a predominance of monoterpenes. Both essential oils displayed antimicrobial activity against bacterial and fungal species.

Magistrates, patrons and benefactors of voluntary associations: status building and Romanisation in the Spanish, Gallic and German Provinces of the Roman Empire [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Social historians are becoming increasingly aware that voluntary associations provide the ‘missing link’ between the civic elites and the ‘lower classes’. This raises an important question: how did the Roman collegia contribute to the Romanisation of the
