Radical dystopia: The comic modernism of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty‐Four

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, EarlyView.
Abstract The present essay turns the received view of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty‐Four on its head, arguing that Orwell's dystopian classic mobilizes the modernist techniques of T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land to lampoon the ideological fatalism of Eliot and other cultural conservatives.

Regioselective Twofold Annulation of Propargyl Acetates

open access: yes
The regioselective annulation of unsymmetrical alkynes has always been a focused research topic. A Pd-catalyzed double annulation of unsymmetrical alkynes (i.e., yne-acetates) with aryl diazonium salts for the synthesis of substituted naphthalene ...

The figures of the cogito: Foucault, Derrida and the possibility of transcendental phenomenology

open access: yesThe Southern Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines the early Foucault as a reader of Husserl, a frequently overlooked dimension of his thought that nonetheless paved the way for the Foucault we recognize today. Drawing on his recently published manuscripts on phenomenology, it reconstructs the distinctive interpretation of phenomenology that the young Foucault was ...

Rh(III)‐Catalyzed [4 + 3] Annulation for Construction of Heterocycle‐Fused Azepines

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 13, 2 July 2026.
Rhodium(III)‐catalyzed [4 + 3] annulation of 2‐arylquinazolinones with allyl ethers enables the facile synthesis of heterocycle‐fused azepines. This step‐economical protocol proceeds via CH and NH functionalization, accommodating diverse heteroatom‐ and polyaromatic‐substituted substrates to deliver structurally varied fused azepines efficiently and ...

The Coptic Church in the Aftermath of the Second Vatican Council: Theological or Tactical Anti‐Judaism?

open access: yesModern Theology, Volume 42, Issue 3, Page 667-685, July 2026.
Abstract Vatican II's declaration on the Jews, absolving them from collective guilt of deicide, marked a significant turning point in Catholic theology. Arab governments tended to perceive this development as evidence that Catholics (or Christians generally) were taking the side of Zionist Jews in the Arab‐Israeli conflict.

Ring‐Opening Arylation of Cyclic Diaryliodoniums via Cyclic Triaryliodanes as Aryne Precursors and Dynamic Aryl Reservoirs

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 24, 8 June 2026.
Cyclic diaryliodonium salts engage aryl Grignard reagents to trigger a self‐propagating aryne–arylation cycle. Transient cyclic triaryliodanes serve as aryne precursors and dynamic aryl reservoirs, delivering iodine‐capped teraryls with predominant meta‐selectivity. The preserved C─I bond enables outward π‐extension or inward recyclization.
