Mitral valve annulus tension: An in vitro study

open access: yes, 2011
The mitral valve is an important valve inside the heart controlling the flow of oxygenated blood from lungs to heart. It has a complex cardiac structure comprising the annulus, the leaflets, chordae tendinae and papillary muscles. There are two leaflets;

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Study on Trapped Pressure in Tubing-Casing Annulus at Early Production Stage in HTHP Wells

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2020
In the early stage of high-temperature and high-pressure(HTHP) well production, the trap pressure in the tubing-casing annulus caused by the thermal expansion of the completion fluid will reduce the reliability of the string, wellhead and packer ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Laminar-Turbulent Flow in a Spherical Annulus

open access: yes, 1978
Experimental results are presented regarding the nature of the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid contained between two concentric spherical surfaces that rotate at different angular velocities.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Mitral annulus calcification: current management and future challenges.

open access: yes, 2019
Mitral annulus calcification is a chronic degenerative process in the fibrous base of the mitral valve. Assessment and treatment of mitral valve disease in patients with severe mitral annulus calcification is challenging, and a multimodal approach is ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Analysis of Multiple Casing Annulus Pressure Buildup for HTHP Wells

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2016
In the production process, the HPHT casing annulus temperature rises, heats the sealed annulus fluid, leading to increased casing load which could threatens the casing safety. To address the issue, on the basis of Lame thick-wall cylinder formula, the ...
