Experimental study of direct photon emission in K- --> pi- pi0 gamma decay using ISTRA+ detector

open access: yes, 2004
The branching ratio in the charged-pion kinetic energy region of 55 to 90 MeV for the direct photon emission in the K- --> pi- pi0 gamma decay has been measured using in-flight decays detected with the ISTRA+ setup operating in the 25 GeV/c negative ...

Search for anomalies in the {\nu}e appearance from a {\nu}{\mu} beam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We report an updated result from the ICARUS experiment on the search for {\nu}{\mu} ->{\nu}e anomalies with the CNGS beam, produced at CERN with an average energy of 20 GeV and travelling 730 km to the Gran Sasso Laboratory. The present analysis is based

BACH, a Bayesian Optimization Protocol for Accurate Coarse‐Grained Parameterization of Organic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

Luck as an Informational Observable for Anomaly Detection in Systems with Memory [PDF]

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems
The detection of anomalous events in noisy systems remains a fundamental challenge across physics, information theory, and complex systems. Conventional approaches typically rely on local statistical deviations, which often fail in non-stationary ...

Complete adiabatic waveform templates for a test-mass in the Schwarzschild spacetime: VIRGO and Advanced LIGO studies

open access: yes, 2005
Post-Newtonian expansions of the binding energy and gravitational wave flux truncated at the {\it same relative} post-Newtonian order form the basis of the {\it standard adiabatic} approximation to the phasing of gravitational waves from inspiralling ...

Computational Modeling Meets 3D Bioprinting: Emerging Synergies in Cardiovascular Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Emerging advances in three‐dimensional bioprinting and computational modeling are reshaping cardiovascular (CV) research by enabling more realistic, patient‐specific tissue platforms. This review surveys cutting‐edge approaches that merge biomimetic CV constructs with computational simulations to overcome the limitations of traditional models, improve ...

Perception of biological motion in schizophrenia and healthy individuals: a behavioral and FMRI study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BackgroundAnomalous visual perception is a common feature of schizophrenia plausibly associated with impaired social cognition that, in turn, could affect social behavior. Past research suggests impairment in biological motion perception in schizophrenia.

Interface Scaling in the Contact Process

open access: yes, 2000
Scaling properties of an interface representation of the critical contact process are studied in dimensions 1 - 3. Simulations confirm the scaling relation beta_W = 1 - theta between the interface-width growth exponent beta_W and the exponent theta ...

Real‐Time 3D Ultrasound Imaging with an Ultra‐Sparse, Low Power Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel, ultra‐sparse ultrasound architecture that paves the way for wearable real‐time 3D imaging. By integrating a unique convolutional array with chirped data acquisition, the system achieves high‐resolution volumetric scans at a fraction of the power and hardware complexity.

Connections between low- and high- frequency variabilities of stratospheric northern annular mode and Arctic ozone depletion

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Previous studies have demonstrated a dynamical linkage between the ozone and stratospheric polar vortex strength, but only a few have mentioned the persistence of the anomalous vortex.
