Associated Negro Press (ANP)

2015
Based in Chicago, ANP was the oldest black newspaper service. Founded in 1919 by Claude A. Barnett, who remained its director until his death, it served an increasing number of newspapers. ANP claimed about 114 subscribers, mostly weeklies, by 1935. Besides news stories and opinion articles, it provided essays as well as book and movie reviews.
