Fibronectin1‐Expressing Subicular Circuits Selectively Govern the Retrieval of Novel Object Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibronectin 1 (FN1)‐expressing subicular subpopulations encode novel object preference and selectively govern retrieval of novel object recognition (NOR) via affecting excitability of entorhinal‐projecting circuit through large conductance Ca2+‐activated potassium (BK) channel. ABSTRACT Novel object recognition (NOR), referring to the cognitive ability

Protein Disulfide Isomerase Disassembles TDP‐43/G3BP1 Condensates and Antagonizes TDP‐43 Pathological Aggregates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic aggregation of TDP‐43 is a common pathological feature in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal lobar degeneration, and Alzheimer's disease with TDP‐43 pathology. This study reports that wild‐type PDI slows down phase separation of TDP‐43 through direct interaction with TDP‐43.

Kindling antagonism: an arrest of epileptogenesis?

open access: yes, 2018
Concurrent alternating stimulation of two limbic sites culminates in typical kindling of generalized seizures from one site (dominant), whereas the other site (suppressed) supports only nongeneralized seizures for as long as stimulation of the ...

Dissecting the Ecological Structure of Health and Disease in the Global Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce Wiredancer, a framework that identifies three continuous ecological factors of the gut microbiota. These factors exhibit distinct patterns across health and disease, jointly capturing disrupted ecological stability and offering a new perspective for precision diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

Olfactory receptor antagonism between odorants

open access: yes, 2004
The detection of thousands of volatile odorants is mediated by several hundreds of different G protein-coupled olfactory receptors (ORs). The main strategy in encoding odorant identities is a combinatorial receptor code scheme in that different odorants ...
