Specialized Feeding Behavior of an Endangered Primate Enhances Forest Health in China
The endangered black‐and‐white snub‐nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus bieti) exhibits a specialized diet on the lichen Usnea longissima. We proved that the U. longissima is harmful to trees and the monkey mitigates overgrowth of the lichen, as well as promotes its regeneration to maintain population, thereby promoting ecosystem health and resilience.

The present study analyzes wildlife species use indices and a vulnerability in the Aledjo Wildlife Reserve (AWR) in Togo. The Importance Value‐in‐use Index (IVIUsp) indicates that the most valued species are the patas monkey (Erythrocebus patas), the forest cobra (Naja melanoleuca), and the green mamba (Dendroaspis viridis).

This study highlights the biodiversity value of the Murren Reserve, a small tropical dry forest patch in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Using camera traps and opportunistic observations, researchers documented 32 wildlife species, including federally endangered species like the ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) and puma (Puma concolor), as well as 73 plant species.
