open access: yes, 1983
The possibility of making the antenna of an MST radar too large is pointed out. It is not that the signal ceases to become stronger beyond some critical antenna size; the received scattered signal actually becomes weaker as the antenna size is increased ...

Power-Based Direction-of-Arrival Estimation Using a Single Multi-Mode Antenna

open access: yes, 2017
Phased antenna arrays are widely used for direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation. For low-cost applications, signal power or received signal strength indicator (RSSI) based approaches can be an alternative. However, they usually require multiple antennas,

Antenna-coupled millimeter-wave LiNbO_3 electro-optic modulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The phase-velocity mismatch due to material dispersion in traveling-wave LiNbO_3 optical waveguide modulators may be greatly reduced by breaking the modulation transmission line into short segments and connecting each segment to its own surface antenna.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Integrated Broadband Bowtie Antenna on Transparent Silica Substrate

open access: yes, 2016
The bowtie antenna is a topic of growing interest in recent years. In this paper, we design, fabricate, and characterize a modified gold bowtie antenna integrated on a transparent silica substrate.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Accurate DOA Estimations Using Microstrip Adaptive Arrays in the Presence of Mutual Coupling Effect

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2013
A new mutual coupling calibration method is proposed for adaptive antenna arrays and is employed in the DOA estimations to calibrate the received signals.

A High-Isolation Building Block Using Stable Current Nulls for 5G Smartphone Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, a new design method to enhance the isolation of a two-antenna building block is introduced. Here, a two-antenna building block (Ant 1 and Ant 2) that is composed of a gap-coupled loop antenna (Ant 1) and a loop antenna (Ant 2) is ...

Integrated Miniature Multiband Antenna Designed for WWD and SAR Assessment for Human Exposure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2021
The article introduces a new, low-cost, integrated, multiband antenna design intended for wristbands and wearable wireless devices (WWD). With a miniaturized planar square-shape sizing 29 × 29 mm2, the antenna can fit easily inside WWDs.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...
