Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

A hybrid adaptive antenna array [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2010
Owing to the excessive demand on signal processing and space constraint, a full digital implementation of a large adaptive antenna array at millimeter wave frequencies is very challenging. Targeted at long range high data rate point-to-point link in the 70/80 GHz bands, a novel hybrid adaptive antenna array which consists of analogue subarrays followed

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Atacama compact array antennas [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2012
We report major performance test results of the Atacama Compact Array (ACA) 7-m and 12-m antennas of ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array). The four major performances of the ACA antennas are all-sky pointing (to be not more than 2.0 arcsec), offset pointing (to be < 0.6 arcsec) surface accuracy (< 25(20) micrometer for 12(7)m ...

Performance analysis of switched-sector antennas for indoor wireless LANs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Given the potential market for wireless LAN (WLAN) technology, capacity within the available 2 and 5 GHz frequency bands is likely to fall short of market demands.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Subarray partition based on sparse array weighted K‐means clustering

open access: yesElectronics Letters
This paper introduces the subarray partition based on the sparse array weighted K‐means clustering method, which extends the conventional K‐means clustering method through the inclusion of a weight matrix approach. This matrix is derived by recording the
