Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Orthogonal Design Method for Optimizing Roughly Designed Antenna

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2014
Orthogonal design method (ODM) is widely used in real world application while it is not used for antenna design yet. It is employed to optimize roughly designed antenna in this paper.

Time and Power Allocation for Energy Efficiency Maximization in Wireless-Powered Full-Duplex Relay Systems

open access: yesFuture Internet, 2019
In this paper, we propose an optimal time and power allocation scheme in a wireless power supply full-duplex (FD) relay system, where we consider the number of relay antennas in the energy harvesting stage.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

A simple method by measuring the impedance for evaluation of magnetic antenna factor of a loop antenna

open access: yesIEICE Electronics Express, 2006
A new simple method is proposed for evaluating the magnetic antenna factor of an electrically small loop antenna. Generally the magnetic antenna factor is defined in far field condition. However it is difficult to realize the far field condition and propagate electromagnetic waves by electrically small antennas when the frequency range is less than ...

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Fluorescence Enhancement Factors on Optical Antennas: Enlarging the Experimental Values without Changing the Antenna Design

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2012
Plasmonic antennas offer promising opportunities to control the emission of quantum objects. As a consequence, the fluorescence enhancement factor is widely used as a figure of merit for a practical antenna realization.

Design of Compact Broadband Omni directional Canonical Sleeve Antenna covering 500-3600 MHz

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2018
A novel compact broadband Canonical Sleeve Antenna (CSA) covering 500-3600 MHz with omni directional characteristics is presented in this paper. A new method is employed in which the radiating antenna structure is designed as combination of three ...

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antennas with Harmonic Control as an Active Antenna Radiator

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2009
A cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna is proposed as a radiator for an active integrated antenna. Harmonic tuning, which is the key step in designing active antenna radiators, is achieved via a combination of shape factor control over the resonator ...
