Simulation and manufacturing of a miniaturized exponential UWB TEM horn antenna for UWB radar applications

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications
This paper presents the parameterization of the structure of a miniaturized exponential UWB TEM horn antenna and its effect on the matching impedance and directivity. In addition, a microstrip balun that feeds the antenna was proposed in order to improve

Microporous Microgel Assemblies Facilitating the Recruitment and Osteogenic Differentiation of Progenitor Cells for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
There is a significant need for biomaterials with well‐defined stability and bioactivity to support tissue regeneration. In this study, we developed a tunable microgel platform that enables the decoupling of stiffness from porosity, thereby promoting bone regeneration.

Multi‐mode dual‐polarised cavity backed patch antenna array for 5G mobile devices

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2021
This paper proposes a dual‐polarised cavity backed patch antenna for next generation phased arrays for mobile handsets. The antenna exhibits multi‐band performance, allowing to cover the 5G bands n257 (26.5–29.5 GHz), n258 (24.25–27.5 GHz), n261 (27.5–28.

Primary Beam and Dish Surface Characterization at the Allen Telescope Array by Radio Holography

open access: yes, 2011
The Allen Telescope Array (ATA) is a cm-wave interferometer in California, comprising 42 antenna elements with 6-m diameter dishes. We characterize the antenna optical accuracy using two-antenna interferometry and radio holography. The distortion of each

Region‐to‐Region Unidirectional Connection In Vitro Brain Model for Studying Directional Propagation of Neuropathologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A unidirectional cerebral organoid–organoid neural circuit is established using a microfluidic platform, enabling controlled directional propagation of electrical signals, neuroinflammatory cues, and neurodegenerative disease–related proteins between spatially separated organoids.

Numerical analysis of microwave detection of breast tumours using synthetic focussing techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Microwave detection of breast tumours is a non-ionising and potentially low-cost and more certain alternative to X-ray mammography. Analogous to ground penetrating radar (GPR), microwaves are transmitted using an antenna array and the reflected signals ...

Advanced Feeds for mm-Wave Antenna Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Millimeter-wave antenna systems have traditionally required high performance feeds in order to fulfill its stringent requirements. Therefore, this goal has been achieved by corrugated horns. However, in the last years new applications mainly in the communication systems have driven the use of other types of antenna feed with slightly reduced ...

From Waste to Value: Conversion of Calcium Sulfate to Vaterite via Carbon Capture and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new concept for carbon management that relies on the carbonation of industrial gypsum waste and yields phase‐pure vaterite at ambient conditions without any additives. The obtained vaterite is further shown to be a reactive material that develops compressive strength in aqueous suspensions like conventional cements.
