Phased array antennas

1993
This chapter is a comprehensive treatment of phased arrays, including (1) array theory, analysis and synthesis techniques; (2) the detailed treatment of array elements and mutual coupling effects; and (3) active arrays - architectures, transmitter-receiver (T/R) modules, feed and control, design criteria and low-sidelobe techniques.

Conformal Phased Array Antenna Design

S-MTT International Microwave Symposium Digest, 1974
An extremely low profile modular conformal phased array antenna design will be presented. Components that make up the antenna will be described to show the unique features such as the plug-in balun, the MHP phase shifter assembly, and the stripline RF manifold tracks incorporated to a create a lightweight, reliable, maintainable panel.

Phased array antennas for mobile communications

Self-phasing array antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1964
A self-phasing array antenna is described which operates on the incident wavefront in such a manner that when it is retransmitted it returns whence it came as a coherent wavefront irrespective of the original phase distribution incident on the array. Self-phasing is useful where a two-way propagation path is available and where a conventional antenna ...

Phased Array Antennas for MLS

14th European Microwave Conference, 1984, 1984
The MLS provides the aircraft with its full position in relation to the runway by means of an azimuth angle, an elevation angle and distance. The angle data are coded in accordance with the principle of "time reference scanning beam" and radiated by phased array antennas. TH.

Education in Antennas-Phased Array Antenna

2005
The paper decribes the beam forming network that feeds linear antenna array of four monopoles above the ground plane and enables an electrical deflection of the array radiation pattern into the demanded direction. This solution is intended for practical teaching students of antenna and microwave.

Noise in phased antenna arrays

Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics, 1981
1. Interaction of radiators has an appreciable effect on the noise characteristics of passive as well as active phased antenna arrays. This effect can be rather accurately accounted for with the aid of only one parameter of the radiator array, namely its effective reflection coefficient defined in the transmission mode with excitation of all ...

Simulation of phased array antennas

Tenth International Conference on Antennas and Propagation (ICAP), 1997
This paper gives an overview of a computer simulation suite PHASAR which has been in use and under continuous development at Roke Manor. The program is written in FORTRAN and was originally produced to aid the design and testing of the then joint Plessey/MOD phased array radar demonstrator, MESAR.

Microstrip Antenna and Phased Array

1988 18th European Microwave Conference, 1988
A systematic approach to analysis of notch-fed rectangular microstrip raditing element and its application to phased array is discussed. A modular design method of medium gain microstrip array is described. Design formulas and plots, sufficiently accurate to specify important design properties of the proposed antenna are included.

Uniform circular arrays for phased array antenna

2011 Loughborough Antennas & Propagation Conference, 2011
This paper compares the performances of a number of uniform circular array (UCA) configurations for phased array antennas. A UCA geometry is targeted due to its symmetrical configuration which enables the phased array antenna to scan azimuthally with minimal changes in its beam width and sidelobe levels.
