Radiation pattern control in microstrip antennas

Proceedings of 1996 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2002
The far field radiation from a microstrip antenna is investigated numerically. Such an antenna has several electrical and geometrical parameters that can be used in shaping its radiation patterns. Among these the ground plane size and shape have the least effect on the antenna circuit parameters and may be used as the controlling parameters.

Radiation Pattern Synthesis for Broadcast Antennas

IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, 1972
Two computer programs that can be used for the synthesis of radiation patterns of linear and planar arrays are described. The programs are listed in the Appendix and were written for the GE-645 computer, in Fortran IV language, and in a time-sharing mode.

Controlling Radiation Pattern of Spherical Antenna

2006 16th International Crimean Microwave and Telecommunication Technology, 2006
Presented in this paper are the results of theoretical and experimental research of irradiation shift influence on radiation pattern. Scanning limits of antenna beam are determined. Some recommendations for scanning spherical antennas design are given.

Recording of dynamic antenna radiation patterns

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1973
A concept is presented for recording antenna radiation patterns as functions of two parameters simultaneously. An implementation of the technique results in a significant savings in the measurement time required to document antenna performance as a function of the particular pair of parameters of interest.

Variable radiation pattern of helix antennas

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1999 Digest. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.99CH37010), 2003
Two-wire or four-wire helical antennas, which are rod-shaped and space-saving and hence simple in structure, have been attracting attention as antennas to be used for mobile satellite communication base stations. Kawakami et al. (1997) reported that changing the phase shift and the number of turns of wire in the central portion enables vertical pattern

Plotting satellite antenna radiation patterns

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 1991
Approaches for visualizing satellite antenna radiation patterns are presented. Gain-level contours drawn over a geographical map give the clearest quantitative information. A three-dimensional surface plot displays the qualitative shape of the radiation pattern more naturally.

Microstrip antenna for radiation pattern reconfigurability

2017 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT), 2017
A microstrip patch Antenna with different radiation patterns reconfigurability is proposed. The antenna operates at a resonant frequency of 2.4 GHz and consists of two layers of Rogers TMM4 with a relative permittivity of 4.5 and loss tangent of 0.002. The substrate size is 100 × 116 mm2 and the height of each substrate is 1.524 mm.

Radiation patterns of a mode transducing antenna

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1985
Radiation patterns for the general case of TE_{0n} excitation of Wengenroth's mode transducing antenna are derived. The antenna seems well suited for application as a launcher for electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) plasma heating. Gain and launching efficiency are calculated.

Compact Antenna with Unidirectional Radiation Patterns

12th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2018), 2018
A compact rectangular folded antenna for WBAN applications is presented in this paper. The Theory of Characteristic Modes (TCM) has been applied to understand the radiation mechanism of this kind of antenna, and to identify the radiating modes that are excited. This in-depth knowledge of the radiation mechanisms given by TCM has allowed the design of a

Scanning synthetic radiation pattern antennas

Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2010
It is proposed conception of development of new type transmitting-receiving scanning antennas, which are called antennas with synthetic radiation pattern. It is based on application of movement of radiating (receiving) element together with synthesizing of radiation pattern (RP) by means of SAR for processing of recorded information about radiated and ...
