Phakic Iris-Fixated Intraocular Lens Placement in the Anterior Chamber: Effects on Aqueous Flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
PURPOSE: Phakic intraocular lenses (pIOLs) are used for correcting vision; in this paper we investigate the fluid dynamical effects of an iris-fixated lens in the anterior chamber.

Histopathological changes in the anterior segment with anterior and posterior chamber intraocular lens

Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020
Patients have shown a lowering of intraocular pressure (IOP) after cataract surgery. Histopathology studies have reported trabecular meshwork (TM) changes in pseudophakic eyes with posterior chamber intraocular lens (PCIOL) and have eluded to the mechanisms for IOP decrease.

Air-Assisted Implantation of Anterior Chamber Intraocular Lens

Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 2015
We describe a technique of air-assisted anterior chamber intraocular lens (ACIOL) implantation.Lens aspiration and ACIOL implantation was performed in patients with progressive subluxation of lenses associated with systemic disorders.Surgery was performed in nine eyes of six patients. No intraoperative adverse events were noted. There was air leak from

Report of an incarcerated Lynell anterior chamber intraocular lens

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1986
This is the first report to document that the polyimide loops of a Lynell glass intraocular lens can cause erosion into the ocular structure and become incarcerated by peripheral anterior synechias. A technique for removal of this anterior chamber lens is described.

Recurrent suprachoroidal dislocation of an anterior chamber intraocular lens

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2008
We present a patient with a history of posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC IOL) implantation and trabeculotomy 9 years previously who recently had IOL exchange for an angle-based anterior chamber IOL. Twenty-four hours after the exchange, he was referred to us with hypotony and "loss" of the IOL.

Intraocular complications associated with the Dubroff anterior chamber lens

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1994
We examined a series of 53 consecutive eyes form which Dubroff-style anterior chamber lenses were explanted. The mean time from implantation to explantation was 46.21 months (range six to 99 months). Problems leading to explantation included bullous keratopathy (83%), glaucoma (51%), chronic cystoid macular edema (40%), and iritis (13%). Molteno valves

Intraocular Lens Exchange for Anterior Chamber Intraocular Lens-induced Corneal Endothelial Damage

Ophthalmology, 1993
Anterior chamber and iris-plane intraocular lenses (IOLs) have been implicated in causing corneal endothelial damage and progression to pseudophakic bullous keratopathy. The authors performed IOL exchanges on 102 eyes with signs of early corneal decompensation or progressive endothelial cell loss associated with these anterior chamber or iris-plane IOLs.

Anterior chamber intraocular lens for high myopia

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2001
To evaluate the effectiveness of the surgical correction of high myopia 5 years after anterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and to analyze the lens position and related complications.Federal University of São Paulo-Escola Paulista de Medicina, São Paulo, Brazil. This prospective study comprised 26 eyes that were implanted with an anterior

Anterior chamber depth after posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1994
Abstract. The precise behavior of the anterior chamber depth after intraocular lens implantation is uncertain. To ascertain variations in the values at different time points, we measured the anterior chamber depth in 38 eyes that had undergone extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation.

Intraocular Pressure Following Secondary Anterior Chamber Lens Implantation

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1988
ABSTRACT Secondary anterior chamber implantation has become relatively simple since the advent of viscoelastic materials. Still, glaucoma, cystoid macular edema, endophthalmitis, and astigmatism remain visionthreatening complications. We studied intraocular pressures (I OPs) following this surgery in 102 patients (124 eyes) over 6 years ...
