Diagnostic Value of Modern Methods of Ocular Anterior Segment Visualization in Intumescent Cataract

open access: yesOftalʹmologiâ, 2019
Purpose: tо evaluate the diagnostic capabilities of optical coherence tomography (OCT), Scheimpflug camera and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) in examining topography of the ocular anterior segment and lens in mature intumescent cataract.

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Unveiling the Mysteries of the Chinese lens zonule balance tension: A statistical analysis

open access: yesHeliyon
Background: This study aims to provide an estimated dataset of lens zonule balance tension (LZBT) measurements in cataractous lenses among Chinese patients and to conduct a statistical analysis of anterior segment parameters.

Evaluation of anterior segment parameters with two anterior segment optical coherence tomography systems: Visante and Casia, in primary angle closure disease

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Purpose: To determine the comparability of anterior chamber biometric measurements in primary angle closure disease (PACD) patients using two commercially available anterior segment optical coherence tomography machines (ASOCT): Visante and Casia ...

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...

Correlation of Anterior Segment Parameters in Keratoconus Patients

open access: yesInternational Journal of Keratoconus and Ectatic Corneal Diseases, 2012
ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the corneal asphericity, volume, thickness and keratometry and the correlation among these variables in keratoconus patients. Materials and methods A total of 1,071 eyes of 810 patients diagnosed with keratoconus were evaluated with a Pentacam (Oculus Optikgerate GmbH).

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).
