PRX9 and PRX40 are essential class III peroxidases that act redundantly to cross-link extensins in tapetal cell walls, which prevents tapetum swelling and enables pollen development. Pollen and microspore development are essential steps in the life cycle

Promoter Analysis of S-Like RNase gene in Transgenic Rice [PDF]
RNases participate in vital cellular functions such as DNA replication, transcription, splicing, and control of translation. S-like ribonucleases (S-like RNases) are homologous to S-ribonucleases (S-RNases), but are not involved in self-incompatibility ...

Oligonucleotide‐based fluorescence in situ hybridization probes were developed in the model citrus species Citrus maxima. These probes were applied to comparative karyotyping across 14 species in the Rutaceae family. This analysis revealed chromosomal evolution in lineages that diverged from Citrus nearly 52 million years ago.

The evolution of anther morphology in orchids: incumbent anthers, superposed pollinia, and the vandoid complex [PDF]
The anther is the source of several of the principal characters traditionally used for classification in Orchidaceae, especially in Epidendroideae. In particular, anther and pollinium orientation are important, but little‐studied characters; it is not known whether various instances of these states are achieved in the same way. We examined variation in

Achieving High‐Density and Stress‐Resilient Maize Breeding Via Germplasm Innovation
Global population growth and climate change have exacerbated the global food crisis. This perspective presents a conceptual framework focusing on enhancing population advantages. Several novel breeding objectives are proposed to improve density tolerance and stress resistance for yield improvement.

ABSTRACT Viruses often hijack host developmental programs to promote infection, but the mechanistic links between reproductive regulation and antiviral immunity remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify a virus‐triggered hierarchical degradation cascade that links antiviral immunity and fertility regulation in rice. We show that the rice grassy
