Pollination and plant reproduction in the Cerrado, the world's most biodiverse savanna

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 74-105, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The Brazilian Cerrado is a continental‐wide biodiversity hotspot and the most species‐rich savanna ecosystem in the world. The main aspect characterising this biodiversity is that the landscape is arranged as an intricate mosaic of different plant formations, including grasslands, savannas, and forests, each harbouring distinct but ...

Loss of E3 ligase HvST1 function substantially increases distal crossover frequency

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 1325-1341, February 2026.
Summary This study characterizes the function of a grass‐specific E3 ubiquitin ligase, HvST1, in regulating synapsis and crossover (CO) formation during meiosis in barley (Hordeum vulgare). In large‐genome cereals, COs are predominantly restricted to distal chromosomal regions, limiting genetic recombination and breeding flexibility.

Anther culture of sunflower cultivars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Anthers of six sunflower cultivars in the stage of uninucleate microspores were placed on six different culture media. Media were supplemented with basic MS (Murashige and Skoog 1962) macro and micro salts, 30 g l-1 sucrose, 0.3% gelrite, pH 5.7, while composition of vitamins varied. Two media were supplemented with 1 mg l-1 AgNO3, and other two with 0.

Dynamic Patterns of Transcript Abundance of Transposable Element Families in Maize. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Transposable Elements (TEs) are mobile elements that contribute the majority of DNA sequences in the maize genome. Due to their repetitive nature, genomic studies of TEs are complicated by the difficulty of properly attributing multi-mapped short reads ...

Combination Effect of Culture Media and Silver Nanoparticle on the Effectiveness of Tobacco Anther Regeneration

open access: yesHayati Journal of Biosciences
Anther culture is an effective biotechnological approach to accelerate the production of homozygous lines in tobacco breeding. This study evaluated the interaction between culture media (Murashige and Skoog/MS and Chu’s N6) and silver nanoparticle (AgNP)
