Spatial patterns of light‐demanding tree species in the Yangambi rainforest (Democratic Republic of Congo)

The objective of this paper was to contribute to the elucidation of the light‐demanding species persistence puzzle in the Congo Basin rainforest canopy. Three hypotheses have been tested, which suggest: (H1) legacy of past disturbances, (H2) legacy of adaptation to a drier climate, and (H3) consequence of heterogeneity of the environment.
