Assessment of Anti-inflammatory and Antioxidant Properties of Trypsin, Bromelain, Rutoside and Glucosamine Combination Gel: An In-vitro Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Inflammation and oxidative stress play key roles in the pathogenesis of various musculoskeletal and soft tissue disorders. Conventional pharmacologic therapies, such as Non steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), are associated ...

In Vitro Anti-Inflammatory, Anticancer (MCF-7, 3T3, and HeLa Cell Lines), and Brine Shrimp Lethality Assay and FTIR Analysis of the Extract and Fractions of the Whole Plant of Heliotropium europaeum

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2020
In this study, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, brine shrimp lethality, and FTIR studies were evaluated. The oxidative burst assay using the chemiluminescence technique, MTT assay, brine shrimp lethality assay, and FTIR analysis were the methods used for ...

Anti-inflammatory and cytotoxicity assay of Cardamom-based nutraceuticals in comparison with 1,8 -Cineol

open access: yesJournal of Drug Delivery and Therapeutics, 2023
Aim: To investigate anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic effects and viability of Recovereez- 51% 1,8-Cineol and 1,8-Cineol (natural), and to determine safety for both of the compounds and its use in new product range of nutraceuticals. Methodology: Cell line was divided into two groups; one was treated with Recovereez(R) and another one with 1,8-Cineol(C ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Assay Technics for Local Anti-Inflammatory Activity in the Skin of Man with Prednisone and Prednisolone*

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1955
The search for new and more effective corticosteroids continues. There has been another phase since the recent development of the halogen substitution compounds of hydrocortisone. (1, 2) Included among the group of these newer corticosteroids are prednisone (Meti-corten), differing from cortisone only by a double bond between Ci and C2, and ...

Adipocyte reporter assays: Application for identification of anti‐inflammatory and antioxidant properties of mangosteen xanthones [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition & Food Research, 2013
ScopeThree fluorescence biosensors were developed based on a 3T3‐L1 preadipocyte line that stably expressed Nfkb‐RE/GFP, Fabp4‐P/CFP, and Nrf2‐P/YFP fluorescent reporters. We hypothesized that nutraceuticals’ inflammatory, adipogenic, and antioxidant status will be identified based on the change in fluorescence in reporter adipocytes.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

In vitro Anti Inflammatory Activity of Abies webbiana Using Albumin Denaturation Assay

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical Research International, 2021
Background: In ayurveda, many natural plant components are used to treat inflammatory conditions for centuries with less side effects. Different parts of Abies webbiana plant are used in ayurveda for many diseases. However, very few studies have been conducted to evaluate pharmacological effects of Abies webbiana. Aim: The objective of this in ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
