Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1429-1452, June 2026.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

The Role of Inflammatory and Anti-Inflammatory Cytokines in the Pathogenesis of Osteoarthritis [PDF]

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2014
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common chronic disease of human joints. The basis of pathologic changes involves all the tissues forming the joint; already, at an early stage, it has the nature of inflammation with varying degrees of severity. An analysis of the complex relationships indicates that the processes taking place inside the joint are not ...

DYNAMICS OF THE LEVEL OF ANTI-INFLAMMATORY CYTOKINES IN THE TREATMENT OF STABLE ANGINA II-III FUNCTIONAL CLASSES

open access: yesМедицинский вестник Юга России, 2016
Purpose: to assess the dynamics of the level of anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-4, IL-10) in the process of the standard treatment and the use of TES-therapy in patients with stable angina II-III functional class.Materials and Methods: the study ...

Bone Marrow Mononuclear Cell Transplantation Restores Inflammatory Balance of Cytokines after ST Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
BACKGROUND:Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) launches an inflammatory response and a repair process to compensate cardiac function. During this process, the balance between proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines is important for optimal cardiac ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Effects of inflammatory and anti‐inflammatory cytokines on the bone [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2011
Eur J Clin Invest 2011; 41 (12): 1361–1366AbstractBackground  Inflammatory diseases are linked to enhanced bone loss. The effect of inflammation on bone is mediated by proinflammatory cytokines, which regulate bone formation as well as bone resorption thereby altering bone homeostasis.Materials and methods  In this article we summarize the key insights

Testosterone in COVID-19: An Adversary Bane or Comrade Boon

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2021
COVID-19 is a pandemic disease caused by severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which leads to pulmonary manifestations like acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

The Effects of Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines on Human Body and Their Relation with Diseases (Review Article)

open access: yesAcademic Science Journal, 2023
Cytokines are important mediators in inflammatory disorders that affect the entire body. Signaling molecules called pro-inflammatory cytokines, also known as inflammatory cytokines, are released by the immune system cells including macrophages and T ...

Downregulation of Mcl-1 has anti-inflammatory pro-resolution effects and enhances bacterial clearance from the lung

open access: yes, 2014
Phagocytes not only coordinate acute inflammation and host defense at mucosal sites, but also contribute to tissue damage. Respiratory infection causes a globally significant disease burden and frequently progresses to acute respiratory distress syndrome,
