Association of Polymorphisms in Inflammatory Cytokines Encoding Genes With Anti-N-methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor Encephalitis in the Southern Han Chinese

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
Background: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that occur within genes encoding inflammatory cytokines can result in quantitative or qualitative changes in their expression or functionality, potentially leading to the development of anti-N-methyl-D ...

Severe Abdominal Pain as a Prominent Clinical Manifestation of Anti‐DPPX Autoimmune Encephalitis: A Case Report and Systematic Review

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Anti‐dipeptidyl‐peptidase‐like protein 6 encephalitis (DPPXE) is an exceptionally rare form of autoimmune encephalitis characterized by a highly heterogeneous clinical phenotype. Methods In this study, we report a Chinese patient presenting with severe abdominal pain as a prominent symptom; furthermore, we conducted a systematic ...

Higher CSF Levels of NLRP3 Inflammasome Is Associated With Poor Prognosis of Anti-N-methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor Encephalitis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is accepted as an autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system (CNS). NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, a potent innate inflammatory mediator, can activate IL-1β and ...

Pediatric Therapeutic Plasma Exchange: Characterization of Practice, Epidemiology, and Safety Profile at a Children's Hospital in the United States

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Apheresis, Volume 41, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT There is a need to better understand the indications and safety profiles for therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) in children. We aimed to assess pediatric TPE practice at a large academic center by retrospective chart review from 2011 to 2022. Patient demographics and clinical information including American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) category ...

Combination Versus Monotherapy in Acute Anti‐LGI1 Encephalitis: A Real‐World Dose Optimization Analysis

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 2, June 2026.
Combined IVIg and 500 mg/day IVMP achieve superior efficacy over monotherapies in anti‐LGI1 encephalitis, with optimal safety. Higher‐dose IVMP (1000 mg) accelerates response but increases adverse events, particularly in diabetic patients. Cognitive deficits persist post‐treatment, necessitating long‐term management.

Life‐Threatening Bradycardia in Anti‐NMDA‐Receptor Encephalitis and a Novel Use for Permanent Pacing

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 5, Page 1020-1027, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric anti‐NMDA receptor encephalitis (pNMDARE) is an autoantibody‐mediated disorder that can cause severe autonomic dysfunction, including symptomatic bradycardia and asystole. Dysautonomia can last for years, making it very challenging to manage.

Phenotypic Diversity and Outcomes in Pediatric NMDA Receptor Encephalitis: A 15‐Year Retrospective Study from the Largest Children's Hospital in the United States

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 28, 18 May 2026.
ABSTRACT Anti‐NMDAR encephalitis (NMDARE) is an autoantibody‐mediated disorder characterized by seizures, movement disorders, neurocognitive deficits, and psychosis, but the complete phenotypic heterogeneity, and outcomes are incompletely understood in children.

Anti-NMDAR encephalitis in a child with long impaired consciousness and persistent antibodies: a case report and mini review

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
We described a challenging case of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis in a young girl. Despite enduring months of reduced consciousness with ongoing antibody presence, she ultimately exhibited remarkable improvement within a 5-year ...

Aberrant Brain Networks and Relative Band Power in Patients with Acute Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis: A Study of Resting-State EEG

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Neuroscience
Objective: The alterations of the functional network (FN) in anti-N-methyl-Daspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis have been recognized by functional magnetic resonance imaging studies. However, few studies using the electroencephalogram (EEG) have been
