Anti‐nuclear matrix antibodies in mixed connective tissue disease

European Journal of Immunology, 1982
AbstractPurified serum antibodies of patients suffering from mixed connective tissue disease were tested for their immunological specificity against nuclear constituents of HeLa S3 cells. In the indirect immunofluorescent staining technique, using cells and nuclei as targets, a typical speckled intranuclear staining pattern was obtained, that persisted

Localization of anti-nuclear antibodies on human metaphase chromosomes

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1974
Abstract A technique has been developed for the in vitro demonstration of anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) in the sera of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) utilizing human metaphase chromosomes in situ as substrate. The selective removal of histone, acidic protein, RNA and treatment with 2% formamide improves the binding of antibodies to ...

Analysis and significance of anti-nuclear antibodies in dogs

Research in Veterinary Science, 1997
Assays for detecting and measuring antinuclear antibodies (ANA) in dogs were compared. They included the indirect immunofluorescence test, using rat liver as substrate, and ELISAs for three nuclear antigens: double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA, and histone. There was no correlation between the ANA titre and antibodies to the three nuclear antigens.

New Methods for Detection of Anti-nuclear Antibodies

Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology, 1998
Many different autoantibodies which react with a variety of different nuclear and cytoplasmic antigens have been described. Detection of some these antibodies has been shown to be clinically useful in a number of different autoimmune diseases.

[Anti-nuclear antibodies in collagen diseases].

La semaine des hopitaux : organe fonde par l'Association d'enseignement medical des hopitaux de Paris, 1975
The authors sought serum antinuclear antibodies by the indirect immunofluorescent method in 3,260 patients, and found these antibodies in 293 of them. 90 patients had a level equal or greater than 1/50. Among the latter, 54 had some form of collagen disease.

Methods for detection and characterization of anti-nuclear antibodies

Clinical Rheumatology, 1990
The detection and characterization of ANA can actually be done in most clinical laboratories using commercially available ready-to-use reagents. However when chosing a kit great care should be taken in the selection of standardized preparations previously tested with a large reference panel of sera, including a maximum of ANA patterns as well as ...

Hidden anti-nuclear antibodies in rheumatic diseases.

Clinical and experimental immunology, 1980
Hidden anti-nuclear antibodies are demonstrated by immunofluorescence using smears of rat nuclei as substrate and rat liver section technique when sera are incubated with penicillamine. The non-detection of hidden anti-nuclear antibodies by tissue sections in the absence of a splitting agent may be due to the formation of high molecular weight ...

Sperm auto - antibodies and anti-nuclear antigen antibodies in chronic dioxin - exposed veterans

Chemosphere, 1996
The authors studied anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) in 25 chronic dioxin - exposed veterans by IIF technics with Hep-2 cell line and sperm autoantibodies by agglutination test of Franklin-Dukes. The site of antibody binding on spermatozoon is detected by IIF test. The control group for ANA detection is 63 healthy persons of the same age as that of dioxin
