Near‐Infrared Light‐Activated Polydopamine Nanoparticles Conjugated With Transferrin Peptides for Enhanced Brain Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Tf‐PDA NPs combine a receptor‐mediated targeting with mild photothermal activation to enhance nanoparticle accumulation in the brain. NIR‐activated Tf‐PDA NPs increase BBB permeability to NPs in vitro and in vivo without inducing cytotoxicity or adverse immune responses.

Electrospun Core–Shell Bioadhesive Nanofiber Sheets Enable Durable Pulmonary Air Leak Sealing Under Wet and Dynamic Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A core–shell electrospun nanofiber sheet provides strong adhesion and durable sealing on the wet and dynamic lung surface. The engineered fibrous architecture maintains airtight integrity and offers a potential alternative to fibrin sealants for pulmonary air leak management in thoracic surgery.

Lessons from Feminist Foreign Policies: Rethinking the EU’s Role in Promoting Peace and Human Rights Amid Anti-Gender Politics and Authoritarian Populism

open access: yesAthena
Gender equality and human rights are core principles of EU policies, backed by the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda and UN Security Council Resolution 1325. These frameworks laid the foundation for feminist foreign policy (FFP), emphasising gender

Macrophage–Fibroblast Crosstalk Governs Tumor Mechanics, as Revealed by Spatiotemporal Force Mapping in 3D Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows crosstalk among tumor cells, fibroblasts, and macrophages alters the physical forces inside 3D tumor spheroids. Incorporating deformable microparticles in 3D tumor spheroids, the researchers mapped mechanical stresses spatially and with respect to tumor growth (temporally).

Reseña del Libro de S. Tormey "The End of Representative Politics"

open access: yesRecerca: Revista de Pensament i Anàlisi, 2017
Simon Tormey’s book, The End of Representative Politics, draws on his work on representation from the last decade as well as on a case study of the tumultuous, but exciting, Spanish politics of recent years. Tormey is interested in a new form of politics

A Political Sociology of European "Anti-Politics" and Dissent

open access: yesCambio. Rivista sulle Trasformazioni Sociali, 2012
The democratic nature of the European integration project is contested, and contestation and dissent seem to be on the increase, or at least becoming more visible, with the current economic crisis. A European project confined to transnational market-making is found wanting in terms of social competence as well as civic-democratic enablement.

Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.

Hierarchical Flexible Ceramic Nanofiber Membrane for Simultaneous Membrane Distillation and Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical flexible ceramic nanofiber membrane integrates a La‐stabilized ZrO2 scaffold with superhydrophobic UiO‐66‐NH2/CdS heterojunctions. The gas–liquid–solid interfacial architecture sustains vapor‐selective desalination, visible‐light charge separation, and rapid H2 extraction, enabling simultaneous freshwater production and photocatalytic ...

Lattice Strain and Built‐In Field Synergistically Boost Urea Oxidation via Dynamic NiOOH Mediation at Multiphase Heterointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A sulfur‐doped lignin‐derived carbon‐coated Ni‐NiO‐MoO2 nanorod array was synthesized, exhibiting enhanced UOR performance ‐ due to lattice‐strain and built‐in electric field effects by multiphase heterogeneous interface in Ni‐NiO‐MoO2@SC, excellent corrosion resistance, mass‐transport ability, and long‐term stability (500 mA cm−2 at 1.53 V for 500 h ...
