Anti-submarine warfare search models

open access: yes, 2016
Stealth and high endurance make submarines ideally suited to a variety of missions, and finding ways to detect, track, and, if necessary, acquire and attack them has long been a topic of research. In this thesis, we study effective ways to operate an MH-60R helicopter in anti-submarine warfare (ASW) missions.

The new poor law and the health of the population of England and Wales

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 79, Issue 2, Page 717-756, May 2026.
Abstract We estimate the impact of reductions in poor law expenditure on rural life expectancy and mortality rates in England and Wales following the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act. Given the scale of cuts imposed, our estimates imply 8–10 per cent increases in mortality at ages 1–4 years and 2–4 per cent falls in rural expectation of life at birth.

Wealth inequality and epidemics in the Republic of Venice (1400–1800)

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 79, Issue 2, Page 811-849, May 2026.
Abstract This article analyses wealth inequality in the Republic of Venice during 1400–1800. From Mechanisms to Materials: Oximate Reactivity and Emerging Strategies for Organophosphate Detoxification

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
The development of effective strategies for the detoxification of organophosphorus (OP) nerve agents has evolved from the early mechanistic studies of François Terrier and collaborators, who first elucidated the exceptional nucleophilicity of α‐effect species such as oximes and hydroxamates, to the modern design of supramolecular and material‐based ...
