Pharmacological Evaluation of Saccharum Officinarum Linn. as Anti-ulcer Agent
International Journal of Science, Technology & Society, 2018The purpose of the study was to elucidate the antiulcer activity of stem of Saccharum Officinarum (Poaceae) in albino rats against aspirin induced gastric ulcer, ethanol induced gastric ulcer and pylorus ligation induced gastric ulcer models. Groups of rats were fasted overnight, received ranitidine (20 mg/kg) as a standard and plant stem juice extract

Inhibition of gastric H+,K+-ATPase by the anti-ulcer agent, sofalcone
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1991Effects of the anti-ulcer agent, sofalcone, on gastric H+,K(+)-ATPase were studied as well as those of other chalcone derivatives, chalcone and sophoradin. These drugs inhibited pig gastric H+,K(+)-ATPase in a dose-dependent manner. They were 5-10-fold less inhibitory toward Na+,K(+)-ATPase than H+,K(+)-ATPase.

[Antacids in combination with other anti-ulcer agents].
Zeitschrift fur Gastroenterologie, 1983Antacids should not be combined with other anti-ulcer drugs such as carbenoxolone, metoclopramide, domperidone, sulpiride, di-citrato-bis-muthate and alginic acid. The effect of each single drug can be negatively influenced by combined application. H2-receptor-antagonists and sucralfate seem to be useful in combination with antacids.

[Target for anti-ulcer agents--pH, H. pylori or NO?].
Nordisk medicin, 1994Although until recently the reduction of gastric acid secretion was the primary aim in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease, it is now recognised that the presence of Helicobacter pylori and not only acid is required to produce duodenal ulcer. Accordingly, the part played by gastric acid has been relegated to the contributor to the effects of H pylori
