Anti-ulcer agents

2023
This chapter looks at peptic ulcers, which are localized erosions of the mucous membranes and occur in the stomach and duodenum. It analyzes hydrochloric acid (HCl) present in gastric juices which results in increased irritation, noting how drugs that inhibit the release of HCl act as anti-ulcer agents.

The anti-ulcer agent, irsogladine, increases insulin secretion by MIN6 cells

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2012
Insulin secretion by pancreatic islets is a multicellular process. In addition to other essential systems, gap junctions are an important component of cell-to-cell communication in pancreatic islets. It is well known that dysfunction of gap junctions causes inappropriate insulin secretion.

Inhibition of gastric H+,K+-ATPase by the anti-ulcer agent, sofalcone

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1991
Effects of the anti-ulcer agent, sofalcone, on gastric H+,K(+)-ATPase were studied as well as those of other chalcone derivatives, chalcone and sophoradin. These drugs inhibited pig gastric H+,K(+)-ATPase in a dose-dependent manner. They were 5-10-fold less inhibitory toward Na+,K(+)-ATPase than H+,K(+)-ATPase.

Synthesis of Novel Aryl (4-Aryl-1h-Pyrrol-3-Yl) (Thiophen-2-Yl) Meth-anone Derivatives: Molecular Modelling, In Silico Admet, Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Ulcer Activities.

Anti-Inflammatory & Anti-Allergy Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2020
BACKGROUND A series of novel aryl (4-aryl-1H-pyrrol-3-yl) (thiophen-2-yl) methanone derivatives was synthe-sized from sequential addition reaction with chalcones and toluenesulfonylmethyl isocyanide (TosMIC).

A new screening method for anti-ulcer agents: psychological stress produced by intraspecies emotional communication.

Pharmacology, 1987
Psychological stress produced by intraspecies emotional communication in a communication box was studied to see whether it could be applied to a new screening method for anti-ulcer agents.

Pharmacological Evaluation of Saccharum Officinarum Linn. as Anti-ulcer Agent

International Journal of Science, Technology & Society, 2018
The purpose of the study was to elucidate the antiulcer activity of stem of Saccharum Officinarum (Poaceae) in albino rats against aspirin induced gastric ulcer, ethanol induced gastric ulcer and pylorus ligation induced gastric ulcer models. Groups of rats were fasted overnight, received ranitidine (20 mg/kg) as a standard and plant stem juice extract

Synthesis and Characterization of Triazole-Linked Bistetrahydrobenzofuran Derivatives as Anti-Ulcer Agents

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
A pair of triazole-linked bistetrahydrobenzofuran derivatives were prepared in high yields through Cu (II)-catalyzed click reaction under mild conditions. All of the intermediates and target compounds were characterized by NMR, IR, ESI-MS and elemental analysis. The in vitro H+/K+-ATPase inhibitory effect for the target compounds were also evaluated by

Determination of the anti-ulcer agent geranylgeranylacetone in serum by gas chromatography—mass spectrometry

Journal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 1982
A highly specific and sensitive method for the determination of the anti-ulcer drug geranylgeranylacetone (GGA) in human serum is described. The extract from serum with hexane was saponified with potassium hydroxide and subjected to silica gel column chromatography to remove interfering substances. GGA in the partially purified extract was then reacted
