Antiaromatic 1,5‐Diaza‐s‐indacenes

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2021
Abstracts‐Indacene is a classical non‐alternant hydrocarbon that contains 12 π‐electrons in a cyclic π‐conjugation system. Herein, we report its nitrogen‐doped analogue, 1,5‐diaza‐s‐indacene. 1,5‐Diaza‐s‐indacenes were readily prepared from commercially available 2,5‐dichlorobenzene‐1,4‐diamine through a two‐step transformation consisting of a ...

Antiaromatic Metallacyclopentatriene Complexes

Journal of the American Chemical Society
There is no report on the (anti)aromaticity of metallacyclopentatrienes, one kind of common and important five-membered metallacycles. This work presents the novel synthesis of osmium cis-biscarbene complexes and their oxidation to osmacyclopentatrienes. The osmacyclopentatriene unit is antiaromatic, as revealed by experimental and theoretical studies.

The Interplay of Aromaticity and Antiaromaticity in N-Doped Nanographenes.

Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2020
The aromaticity of three non-planar, fully conjugated aza-nanographenes built around a pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyrrole core is assessed through application of two different computational procedures - GIMIC and NICS.

Dibenzoberylloles: antiaromatic s-block fluorene analogues

Chemical Communications, 2023
The first Lewis-base-stabilised dibenzoberylloles are prepared, one of which undergoes a complex but selective thermal conversion to a loosely bound beryllium-alkene π complex and two-electron reduction to an aromatic dianion.

Small Antiaromatic Rings

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1968
AbstractAccording to quantum mechanical calculations, systems with 4n π electrons ought to have anti‐aromatic character, i.e. be destabilized by resonance. This prediction is examined for the case of cyclopropenyl anion, the simplest system having 4n π electrons (n = 1).

Diazadioxa[8]circulenes: Planar Antiaromatic Cyclooctatetraenes

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2013
AbstractIn this paper we describe a new class of antiaromatic planar cyclooctatetraenes: the diazadioxa[8]circulenes. The synthesis was achieved by means of a new acid‐mediated oxidative dimerization of 3,6‐dihydroxycarbazoles to yield the diazadioxa[8]circulenes in high yields.

Single-molecule conductance of dibenzopentalenes: antiaromaticity and quantum interference.

Chemical Communications, 2020
The effects of antiaromaticity and destructive quantum interference (DQI) are investigated on the charge transport through dibenzo-[a,e]pentalene (DBP). 5,10-Connectivity gives high single-molecule conductance whereas 2,7 gives low conductance due to DQI.
