Prospective Trial of Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation of High Dominant Frequencies After Pulmonary Vein Isolation in Non‐Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (PAD‐AF Trial): A Multicenter, Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
In persistent AF, adjunctive dominant frequency‐guided ablation after pulmonary vein isolation did not significantly improve outcomes. Limited overlap between high‐frequency sites and low‐voltage areas suggests functional–structural dissociation, while right atrial low‐voltage burden predicts recurrence.

Concomitant use of direct oral anticoagulants and interacting antiarrhythmic drugs and the risk of stroke and bleeding among patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation: a multinational cohort study

open access: yesBMC Medicine
Background Several antiarrhythmic drugs can interact with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) through pharmacokinetic mechanisms increasing DOAC levels. Our multinational cohort study assessed the effectiveness and safety of concomitant use of DOACs and ...

Novel Quinolizidinyl Derivatives as Antiarrhythmic Agents

open access: yes, 2016
Eighteen analogues of lidocaine, mexiletine, and procainamide were synthesized, replacing their aminoalkyl chains with the rigid and cumbersome quinolizidine nucleus.

Short Sleep Duration Measured by Smartwatch Is Associated With Elevated Resting Heart Rate and Reduced Nocturnal Oxygen Saturation: Insights From Heartbeat

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
Short Sleep Duration and Wearable‐Derived Cardiovascular Metrics. ABSTRACT Introduction Sleep duration has been shown to impact cardiovascular outcomes; however, the impact on wearable‐derived metrics such as oxygen saturation and resting heart rate remains underinvestigated.

Prevalence and Recovery of Arrhythmia‐Induced Cardiomyopathy in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Heart Failure Using a Wearable Defibrillator: A Real‐World Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract summarizes the study design and main findings in patients with newly diagnosed left ventricular systolic dysfunction and concomitant arrhythmia undergoing early rhythm control under wearable cardioverter‐defibrillator protection.

Antiarrhythmic drugs and polyneuropathy

open access: yes, 1994
A total of 151 patients on chronic treatment with amiodarone and other antiarrhythmic drugs were subjected to standard clinical and electrophysiological investigation to assess the prevalence and specificity of polyneuropathy.

Mechanical Circulatory Support During Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Procedural and Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Catheter ablation is an established therapy for ventricular tachycardia (VT); however, hemodynamic instability frequently limits procedural mapping and success. Temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) devices are increasingly used to maintain end‐organ perfusion during VT ablation, yet their impact on clinical outcomes remains ...

Antiarrhythmic drugs and the importance of beat rate variability in clinical practice

open access: yes
This thesis explores the importance of antiarrhythmic drugs in the treatment of arrhythmia with a focus on evidence-based clinical practice. Although a lot of new drugs have been added to a modernized classification of antiarrhythmic drugs, most of them ...

Liquid membrane phenomena in antiarrhythmic action

open access: yes, 1986
Antiarrhythmic drugs have been shown to generate liquid membranes in series with a supporting membrane. Transport of sodium ions across the liquid membrane generated by these drugs has been studied.
