The current approach of atrial fibrillation management

open access: yesAvicenna Journal of Medicine, 2016
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most commonly encountered arrhythmia in clinical practice. Aging populations coupled with improved outcomes for many chronic medical conditions has led to increases in AF diagnoses.

Historical Aspects of the Use of Antiarrhythmic Drugs in Clinical Practice

open access: yesРациональная фармакотерапия в кардиологии, 2022
Heart rhythm disorders are one of the most urgent problems in cardiology. The first reports on the possibility of using drugs in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias began to appear in the scientific literature from the middle of the 18th century.

Fatty acid analogue N-arachidonoyl taurine restores function of IKs channels with diverse long QT mutations

open access: yeseLife, 2016
About 300 loss-of-function mutations in the IKs channel have been identified in patients with Long QT syndrome and cardiac arrhythmia. How specific mutations cause arrhythmia is largely unknown and there are no approved IKs channel activators for ...

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

Targeting Endogenous Lipophagy: A Novel Strategy to Enhance MSC Osteogenesis and Mineralization for Senile Osteoporosis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of lipophagy in bone mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs). In healthy MSCs, functional lipophagy efficiently degrades lipid droplets to support oxidative phosphorylation and cellular energy production, thereby facilitating osteogenic differentiation and matrix mineralization.

An Implantable Phototriggered Prodrug Depot Patch Enables Actively Programmable Drug Release for Post‐Myocardial Infarction Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An implantable phototriggered prodrug depot patch (iPDP) is presented that enables actively programmable drug release post‐implantation. Covalently conjugated prodrug ensures minimal leakage; illumination parameters serve as a code to precisely control dose per release.

Incidence of All-Cause, Cardiovascular, and Atrial Fibrillation-Related Hospitalizations

open access: yesJACC: Advances
Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with an increased risk of hospital admission, but few data on reasons for hospitalization and on the role of anti-arrhythmic drugs are available.
