Catalytic Antibodies

Current Opinion in Chemical Biology, 1998
Following the end of the first decade in catalytic antibody research, recent efforts are reflecting a more introspective view of the field. Notably, X-ray crystal structure analyses of antibody catalysts are permitting an increased understanding of the evolution and modus operandi of these remarkable biocatalysts. Additionally, the breadth and scope of

Antiacetylcholinesterase antibodies: Enzyme antibodies interaction

Pharmacological Research Communications, 1981
Summary Erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase activity of rabbits was significantly increased over control levels by immunization with acetylcholinesterase from the electric organ of the electric eel. The increase of enzyme activity and that of anti-acetylcholinesterase antibodies had the same time course, reaching a maximum level on the 35th day.

Phage antibodies: will new ‘coliclonal’ antibodies replace monoclonal antibodies?

Trends in Biotechnology, 1992
Antibodies can now be rapidly isolated from large and diverse recombinant libraries by displaying functional antibody fragments on the surface of bacteriophage particles and directly selecting with antigen. This method has been used to isolate antibodies, including human antibodies, with and without immunization, and to improve the affinity and ...

Hybrid Antibodies

International Reviews of Immunology, 1993
One of the major advantages of genetic engineering is the ability to produce novel, hybrid antibodies. Hybrid antibodies can be assembled using fragments from different antibodies with the objective of assembling novel combinations of antibody-related effector functions.
