Anticardiolipin antibodies in eclampsia
International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1992AbstractTwenty patients with eclampsia were studied for the presence of anticardiolipin antibodies by the standard microflocculation test (quantitative) used in the VDRL. Four out of 20 patients (20%) were positive for anticardiolipin antibodies. Anticardiolipin antibodies which are antiphospholipid antibodies by decreasing the prostacyclin production ...

Anticardiolipin Antibodies and Thrombosis
Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America, 1992Anticardiolipin antibodies (ACLAs) are strongly associated with thrombosis and appear to be the most common of the acquired blood protein defects causing thrombosis. Although the precise mechanism(s) whereby ACLAs alter hemostasis to induce a hypercoagulable state remain unclear, several theories, as previously discussed, have been advanced.

Anticardiolipin Antibodies in Cluster Headache
Cephalalgia, 1991Antiphospholipid antibodies have occasionally been observed in migraine patients, but a recent study of a large series suggested the association was with other concurrent conditions, not specifically with migraine. We wondered about an association with other vascular headaches and measured anticardiolipin antibody levels in 20 cluster headache ...

Heterogeneity of anticardiolipin antibodies defined by the anticardiolipin cofactor.
The Journal of Immunology, 1992Abstract Anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL) found in sera from patients with SLE react with cardiolipin (CL) in the presence of a 50-kDa serum cofactor. The cofactor, which was identified to be beta 2-glycoprotein I by sequencing the N-terminal amino acids, not only enhances CL binding by antibodies in SLE but also depresses it by ...

Anticardiolipin Antibodies In Hashimoto’S Disease
Endocrine Practice, 2001To ascertain the presence and significance of anticardiolipin antibodies in patients with Hashimoto's disease. We studied 19 patients (15 women and 4 men; age range, 26 to 79 years) with Hashimoto's disease. IgA, IgG, and IgM anticardiolipin antibodies were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Of the 19 study patients, 4 (21%) tested positive ...

Anticardiolipin Response in Kawasaki Disease
Acta Paediatrica, 1990ABSTRACT. Antibodies against cardiolipin are formed in many different infectious diseases, and high levels are associated with susceptibility to thrombosis, especially in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. In view of the postulated infectious etiology of Kawasaki disease and its association with thrombosis, we have studied the occurrence of ...

Anticardiolipin antibodies in ectopic pregnancies
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, 2001Anticardiolipin auto-antibodies are known to be inflicted in recurrent pregnancy losses and other adverse outcomes of pregnancy. However, their role in extrauterine pregnancies is unknown. To clarify the association between anticardiolipin antibodies and extrauterine pregnancies.About 30 patients with ectopic pregnancies confirmed histologically and 40 ...

Prenatal Screening for Anticardiolipin Antibody
American Journal of Perinatology, 1990Anticardiolipin antibodies, immunoglobulin G, and M (IgG, IgM) have been associated with recurrent abortion and with maternal death. This study tested whether anticardiolipin titers would be a useful prenatal screening test to determine high-risk pregnancies. Titers were obtained at the first clinic visit in 686 patients, mean gestation, 20 weeks.

Sneddon's syndrome, anticardiolipin antibodies and anticardiolipin cofactor. A case report.
Acta neurologica, 1992Sneddon's syndrome is a rare entity characterized by idiopathic livedo reticularis and cerebrovascular lesions. A case of a young woman with livedo reticularis and progressive cerebral arteriopathy is described. Abnormalities of sexual and gonadotropic hormones were present. Anticardiolipin and anticardiolipin-cofactor complex antibodies were not found.
